Open Pipes

Anyone run this setup? because I'm thinking that when my Flows rust out I'll just run straight pipe.

I have 3" strait pipe from my y-pipe back on my '05 Crew Cab FX4 and it is just a nice low rumble, cat/converter and everything fom the y up is the same so it still meets emmisions standards, and is legal.

I've thought about doing it, and even was planning on taking the truck in to get it done, but I'm not so sure about it now. I tow my boat a lot, and seeing as how I'm going to school about 1 1/2 hrs away now, I don't want for it to be THAT loud. I still like my 40 series though.

open pipes

I had 3 1/2 inch tubing run from the y all the way back and exit in the same place that the factory exit was. My neighbors were not impressed...when I started my truck every morning... It was DEEEEEP. Loud only when you touch the gas pedal and it was Loud. I ended up putting a Bully Dog stainless muffler on. Its still deep but not loud like it was. 2004 F150 Screw5.4liter

Question ?

SoCal...you said you have run different set ups before. i have a question. i have a 97 4.6, flairside and im puttin new exhaust on soon. does it make a difference in sound and or power if i run a si/do system out the back, or a si/so out the side like it is now, just with an aftermarket muffler. i cant find an answer to this ?
