IMCO Extreme series is by far the loudest, i've heard their even louder than straight pipes. Plus, you will not lose as much low end torque with the IMCO.

straight pipes with the stock cats sound good but will cause bottom end power loss. you won't lose too much power but it would be enough to **** me off.

Flowmaster 40 Series (original recipe), IMCO Extreme, or just plain ol straight pipes.

I have JBA shorty headers and the Magnaflow SISO cat-back w/my 98 4.6 and it sounds mean when I get on it. Just cruising and it has a nice low rumble, but might not be loud enough for what you are looking for. As they say, opinions are like a$$holes, everybodys got one...

A 50 series Flowmaster kit by far sounds the best. On the quiet side though.

I had 3 inch piping coming from the cats into an original FM40 SI/DO dumped and it sounded good but it wasnt loud enough

Then I cut my muffler off, and ran a strait pipe. It sounded louder than my FM 40 but the tone wasnt as good.

Then i installed an IMCO 1 chamber SI/DO and it was just what I was lookin for. It was as loud if not louder than a strait but had a real aggressive, mean tone. I loved it

Finally I went ahead and took off all my cats. loudest $#!T ive ever heard on an F150. Its too loud, big block, muscle car loud. Id keep it but its only a matter of time b4 the cops bust me, so im puttin 2 back in soon

If you want something seriously loud, and don't have tailpipe sniffing emissions, look into the flowmaster 1 chamber. There is nothing louder. The origonal 40 is the muffler that started it all, and predates every other performance muffler out there. In the end, you go with what got them here.

I heard a '69 Chevelle at a car show with glass packs. It had a deep tone and “gargled”/ rumble. Would a Flowmaster 40 Series, SIDO, DOS give me the same sound?

No. He's got 173 ci on you. If you ran straight pipes it MIGHT sound almost as good.
