Single Out or Dual Out?? Which Flowmaster???

Ok everyone I need some opinions and some help. I am looking at putting a Flowmaster 40 series on my '04 XLT. I normally have done a SI/DO muffler with each tailpipe exiting straight out the rear of the truck. With my new truck I was thinking of keeping it looking more stock by just replacing the stock muffler, keeping the stock tailpipe and adding a nice SS Tip at the end of the stock tailpipe. What I am looking for is some pics of exhaust setups. I would like to see a dual outlet and a single outlet setup so I can decide.

Also I was wondering if I should go with the standard 40 series Flowmaster or the Super 40. And the only one I am finding is 3" in and 2.5"(or maybe 2.25" can't remember right now). Is this the right one???

Please provide any help you can. Pics or info. would be great.

Question [REQ] Pics of 99-04 dual out, side, in front of rearwheel?

I am looking for pictures taken from the side and from underneath.

TIA

I am doing an install next week on a 2005 5.4 2wd. I made the guy a decent deal and am doing it installed for $600. Thats a super 40 (which he is subbing for a 50suv) with DOR and chrome tips.

I did one on a 2006 Dodge hemi today, was quick and easy with the flowmaster kit, like 45 minutes

They can turn your pipers where ever you want them. Go with single in, dual chamber, dual out. If you go with single out your just buying sound and not any performance. I got mine done with ss tips for $300.

Have you checked out the Delta Flow series:

Design seems simular to the Super 40. I had one installed yesterday (2.5 S/I 2.25 D/O to replace an IMCO pro series) and it made a big difference in sound/performance!

I thought that the Super 40 was the one that used Delta Flow. The original 40 series is the one that isn't Delta Flow.

I like the look of a nice, clean single tip these days. Everyone's got duals and often they won't line up right, which is annoying when it's your truck.

Anyway, all I did on my current truck was have the shop bend the OE pipe toward the far corner behind the right rear tire, slightly back from factory specs. Then I had them add a big stainless tip (4") and I'm loving it. No excess noise, good looks and under $50.

Pics will come as soon as it stops raining and I can wash her up.

Check my gallery, I have true dual 40 series flowmasters dumped. I planned on finishing the exhaust and taking it all the way out the back, but the look of not having anything show out the back grew on me and I never had it done. Mine may not be much help, but i think the 40's sound great!!

SIDO Flowmaster 40 - Very satisfied

I put a SIDO Flowmaster 40 standard series on my truck...ITS PERFECT. I talked to the install guy about the 50 series and he said that it would be too quiet for a Ford. He told me that the Fords need the 40 to get the good rumble and I must say I agree. Like everyone told me here, its not obnoxious, its a nice rumble. With the '05 F150's I can hear it in the cab, but its not over bearing. I can hear the radio perfectly and I can hold a conversation with someone in the back seat. At a cold startup, it is pretty loud, but once the truck warms up, it quiets down nicely. I paid $340 for stainless steal in Dallas, TX at Pronto Muffler in Plano (for people in Dallas).

I will provide pictures when I get around to taking em...

Sounds good. Seems like that is going to be my best bet. I will get a muffler ordered off Ebay and a tip and get it put on in a week or so. I will post up some pics when done. Thansk again to all for the help.

I think duals out behind the tires looks best but I have originals on my 5.4 04 F150 and super on my 03 tahoe. There is a definite difference in sound. They both sound good but Im not sure if its the different engine or what. Some people thing the super sounds louder with a deeper tone but the originals are suppose to be louder . Which ever you choose I am sure you will be pleased
