How loud is a Magnaflow 11"

I want a new muffler and right now am leaning towards an IMCO Extreme. This is just gonna be a muffler replacement.

I was wondering how loud the magnaflow 11" muffler would be. Can anyone compare it to the IMCO Extrememe or a flowmaster original 40 series? If no one know about the 11 incher, how about the 14"/

I want some noise out of this muffler. I like the magnaflow from a power perspective...but this is just a muffler replacement so I don't expect anything anyway. Should I just go with the IMCO?

by the way, this will be stock tubing and a 4" x 18" long tip.

Thanks!!

Yes it is an 11" magnaflow, but he also has high flow cats and LT's, which make a very significant increase in sound. Irrelevant if you are just looking for a muffler change.

yeah, i heard them, but as tex said...he has a lot more done...plus it was true duals.

Oh well. Someone just tell me what to do cuz I can't make up my mind. IMCO Extreme....Magnaflow 11" or 14". Also, if I go with the IMCO Extreme...I may replace the Y pipe as well. So lets vote...

1. IMCO Extreme + Y-Pipe + 4" x 18" tipe with stock pipe
2. IMCO Extreme + 4" x 18" tipe with stock pipe
3. Magnaflow 11" + 4" x 18" tipe with stock pipe
4. Magnaflow 14" + 4" x 18" tipe with stock pipe

sounds good to me. I have the 18" that comes with the cat setup(siso). I like it.

I know your frustration about people not responding. It seems we are in the same boat, both of us want great sound but not too loud, and great performance. I plan on running no cats into an x pipe (might be a maggie with the x built in) and two maggies with 3.5" stainless tips. But I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud, this is my biggest concern. I guess the only way we will know is when one of us finally does it. Just to let you know I plan on having mine done in June or July. Have you settled on what exactly you plan on doing?

heh, NO....i wish I could settle on something. I really want the most bang for my buck, but I can't spend too much money. I'm on a tight budget and my BDay is coming up--June 5th so I need to decide before then. The thing is, everyone says the Maggies are quiet all the time, but when you get on it you know its there. Well, I don't know about you, but I drive a 6,000 lb truck... Idon't 'get on it' very often.

I'm thinking of getting a SI/DO Maggie and reversing it to DI/SO to eliminate the stock Y pipe an use the muffler as a y pipe. I figure this will give me the best flow for the lowest cost.

I actually ( laugh at me or make fun I dont care) replaced my magnaflo si/do with a Borla Pro xs muffler si/do. there is a sound difference which I am happy with. I had the 2 1/4" pipe after cats replaced with a 3" to the muffler and kept the maggie dual pipes. I had it on for 2 weeks cant tell about a performance difference, but I step on it more . The Borla was $82.00, had the exits on the muffler expanded to 3" to fit pipes. Just my $.02
