Magnaflow 15609 Muffler Split

Today while washing the truck, I noticed a bit of a problem on the muffler of my Magnaflow 15609 system installed on my 2002 Ford F150 4x4 SCrew.

About 3/4 of the weld on the "endcap" is separated from the main body of the muffler. I thought it would be an easy fix--weld it back together, but that's not going to happen. This is where it get's kind of weird. The end cap is oval shaped and the main body of the muffler is distorted into a more round shape on the end that it is separated from. I can't bend/align it at all as the muffler body is still very rigid.

I tried calling www.bigexhaust.com where I bought the system from but they were closed--Sunday. Will try tomorrow.

Anybody else have any issues with Magnaflow like this? The system was installed in Oct 2002 at 8K miles and now the truck has almost 38K. Only 30K on the system. So, what is Magnaflow like in dealing with warranty issues? Any info will be much appreciated. TIA.

I'd try calling Magnaflow. I once had a warranty issue with a product and they were very helpful.

I did what you said and they were not very helpful. I guess they didn't like hearing that one of their mufflers was defective.

Magnaflow then referred me to the dealer where I got it from, who in turn told me I had to contact Magnaflow direct. To make a long story short, I got the run around from the dealer and the place I purchased it from. I contacted a few other dealers and they all required me to take off the muffler, ship it to them so they could ship it to Magnaflow. Once it was at Magnaflow, they would determine if it was a valid claim, then ship a new one to the dealer who would then ship it to me. They all said it would take about 2 weeks...

I called various Magnaflow dealers in the area and got just as many explanations as what to do concerning the warranty issue. Needless to say I wasn't pleased

I finally located a shop that knew what was going on and how to do the warranty. The shop ordered one, and said they would call me when it came in. We then will do the swap for the bad one. The shop was very, very helpful with no runaround. Titan Truck in Spokane, WA--good dudes.

WARNING--Magnaflow may have a lifetime warranty, but it's a pain in the rear to get anything done with it as most of their dealers don't have a clue on how to handle warranty issues. Magnaflow may have a good product, but their customer service at the main office is less than stellar.
