To All Magnaflow Owners!!!
I am tossing around what exaust I want to get and I finally see that Magnaflow has a sound clip for the new trucks. I turn it on and listen to it and can't beleive what I am hearing. I hope to god that thisn't the sound for these trucks. From what everyone preaches on here on how much they like it, well to me that sound clip sounded like crap. There was a lot of popping going on and I am very dissapointed. To all Magnaflow owners, please let me know what you think. Is this how it sounds or not? Here is the website to the sound clips. http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/04trucks.asp
It sounds good at idle, but when they started giving it gas it just started popping and sounding like crap IMO. Let me know of your opinions. Thanks.

SI/SO here and I do not get any popping either. That sounds really bad. HWM3 has some clips he posted here I thought were really good: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=215435
Thanks for the replies. I was really surprised at that clip and just wanted to make sure. I am still tossing up the magnaflow and the flowmaster. I have heard flowmasters before on our trucks but not the magnaflow. Thanks again.

Just put the Magnaflow on, SISO, does not pop, actually sounds good. I got good sound when starting and idleing, and when hitting the gas. Overall, quite quiet when cruising on the highway. Very pleased.
I have the Magnaflow SIDO (under rear bumper exit) and it sounds fine - no popping either. However, many exhausts (including stock - you just don't hear it as well) will pop if you are just revving the engine in neutral - or if you have a loose clamp causing a leak - it will tend to pop as well. Generally, popping is not caused by the exhaust system - but a less restrictive system will amplify a popping condition. Whew - say that fast 5 times
I believe the popping on that sound clip is due to some sort of mic distortion/misplacement/etc.
I've got a 14" Magnaflow SI/DO on my '05 and it sounds great. I've been through a couple of different setups so far on this truck trying to find what suits my ears the best.
First I went with a 14" Magnaflow SI/SO with tip exiting at the stock location. This setup was just too droney for my tastes. Personally, I believe running DOs sound about the best, kinda like a tuning fork or sorts. Also I was wanting a little more volume.
After the SI/SO Magnaflow I went with straight-pipes as I've got straights on my '97 as well...sounded great, but waayyyy louder than the '97, and entirely too loud for my neighborhood at 5:00 in the morning.
Not to mention that with just regular driving it sounded like I was really getting into the pedal anytime I tried accelerate easily. So it was back to the drawing board.
I've been running this SI/DO Magnaflow setup for a few days now and it's about perfect for me tone- and volume-wise, plus it helps to keep the back pressure that these engines need. Nice mellow rumble and *very* good tone, no droney sound to it but you can definately hear it from the cab. And when you get in the pedal it stands straight up and talks to ya.
Though I've heard a lot of them, I've never ran any Flowmaster setups on anything of mine. I've got a lot of buddies that just love 'em, I just never acquired a taste for 'em. To my ears they tend to sound better on higher compression motors like the 'Stangs and so forth, but they are definately loud. No question about it.
I tend to see it like this...
Obnoxiously loud -- straight-pipes or IMCO Extreme (documented loss of low end torque)
Almost obnoxiously loud -- Flowmaster (reported loss of low end, increase in hp)
Loud, but not obnoxious -- Magnaflow (documented increase in both torque and hp)
