adding high perfomance exhaust

when adding a flowmaster system how do you keep cat converter so it will pass inspection? Does flowmaster incorporate a converter in a system? At my state inspection systgem they look at the system with a mirror to ensure it is legal. How can I get a cool sounding 4.2 and still keep it legal?

You go with a cat-back, meaning just a muffler and exit pipes, hooks up behind the converters. If you want high-performance and don't want it to sound like a ricer w/ a fart can, don't go with a flow-master. I think you would lose to much low-end to be satsified on a 4.2. When I had a 4.2 a few years ago, I had a Gibson Super-Truck installed, while it didn't sound like a V-8 or anything it didn't sound like rice either. Just my $.02

There are many exhaust mods for every taste that leave the factory cats intact. Browse through the "V-6 Engine" section of the board and you'll find every option has been discussed.
