Cool I want a Mustang Cobra sound

I want my 1998 F150 Supercab, Flareside Lariat with 4.6l automatic to sound as close as possible to a factory Mustang Cobra. I'm not sure what type of exhaust system the cobra uses. My K&N cold air intake will be here in a couple of days and I don't know if that would affect the exhaust note.

Any suggestions out there????

Get flowmasters true duals and take the pipes back to right behind the front doors and out the side.

Mustangs sound so good because they have nice short true dual exhausts.

I was at the Ford dealer down here and took a look under the Saleen Mustang they had... Had a pair of SS Magnaflows in the back.... Just FYI

Go with headers into an X-pipe and then true duals with your muffler of choice. The Flowmaster will probably get you closer to a raspy Mustang sound.

Do not do true duals and go out in front of the doors, however you could only go in front of the passenger door. You don't want to do that because you will lose to much back pressure. The closest you are going to get to a mustang sound is no cats, get some o2 simulators to plug into your o2 sensors, get an x- pipe and true dual flowmaster 40 series or dual magnaflow 14". with a 3.5 or 4" tip.

Thanks

Thanks folks. Was at the dealership the other day and looked at the cobra they had there. It was too quiet for what i want. Maybe I'll run down the next vehical that has the sound I want and ask them what they have.

Just FYI Mustang GT's and Mustang Cobra's have different sounds... At least the newer cobra's and such. The GT's and Cobra's have different motors.

Plus, it has nothing to do with the fact they have short true duals. The vettes have true duals also, along with the new GTO's and my 2000 Trans Am Ws6 had true duals, but yet none of them sound like mustangs. Every car or truck has a different sound due to the type of motor, and the firing order. Also the headers, and mufflers control the sound and flow of the exhaust.

If your looking for something close, I would go with flowmaster 40 series(even though I dont like flows, they seem to be popular). If you want a different sound, go with Magnaflow or Borla mufflers and have a custom set of duals built.
