i had true dual 40's on my 4.6 and loved it. Loved taking off OD and just punching while around town.

40series for our 4.6's (from my research and asking around) cause too much loss of pack pressure/low end torque loss... I went with 18" magnaflow and love it...

Does anybody else have this issue with losing back pressure and low end torque with the 40 series in a 4.6. I really want the 40 series sound.

I also have the 40 series on my 4.6 and have back pressure issues lost some low end torque but I love the sound these mufflers make so it will stay on there till it starts to rust also noticed as drop in my rpms at a stand still but not that bad if you love great sound then I would put the 40 series on if you want more performance then put a managflow on but they are a bit quiter then the flowmaster hopes this helps you out some with your desion.

I have the 40 series on my 2002 4.6 4x4 and have no problem with the back pressure now. I did when I had no tailpipes and it was much louder then too. I put some tail pipes on and now it is quieter in the cab and a little quieter outside the truck but I can tell a big difference in driving now and it seems much more responsive. I would recomend flowmaster to anyone wanting good sound from there truck or car or suv.

The original 40 series sounds really good on the 4.6L. You will not get the same sound/exhaust tone as the 5.4L, but you will be happy.

I have the original 40 "3 inch SI/SO" (part # 43041) exiting in front of the pass rear tire. I have a mandrel bent exit pipe with a F/M 3.5 inch tip. I may try the super 40 just for a comparision test. I had the 40 series delta flow for about 3 months and swapped that for the original.

Good luck to you my freind...
