Opinions on best exhaust setup for a 2004 5.4L

Hey. Just got an 04 screw Lariat with the 5.4L. I'll be putting exhaust on it soon and wanted opinions on the best complete exhaust system (not just cat back) with headers. Money isn't an issue, I'm willing to spend more for a better system if that's what it takes. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time so I'm leaning more towards stainless (although it doesn't have to be) as I live next to the ocean and don't want it to rust out on me. I have a Borla system on my jeep and love it so I'll probably be looking into that. I don't necessarly want it real loud but more of a deep tone to it and hopefully a little more power. Removing the cats is not an option as I have emissions testing to get through every year. I'd also like to know about having the exhaust dumps before the rear tires out the sides. Do you get any back flow of fumes into the cab (windows up/down) by doing this and does the exhaust damage the paint down the sides? Should I go with true dual exhaust? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Living close to the ocean won't necassarily make your exhaust rot if you keep the underbody clean. A full stainless system will be quite expensive, although you say cash isn't a problem (isn't that nice ) I lived in Charleston SC for 4 years and had a full aluminized system on my mustang. When I moved to GA the exhaust still looked new 4 years later. (wash it weekly!) I think that BBK makes a full long tube stainless header, but without a monetary restriction, go for the ceramic coated headers. THey'll reduce heat in the engine bay for better air intake temps! I'd dual it out, as that will also help performance. For the money, Borla seems like it would be the best choice for you, as its sound is good too. You can still remove the front two cats without emissions issues. You can also remove the second ones and replace them with the magnaflows and pass emissions, getting better flow and again, better performance. Flowmaster makes the deltaflow 40 series in stainless, and they have a good tone outside and relatively no interior noise. You have a lot of choices, and you're gonna get a lot of opinions here. Good luck
