Why all the flak from Muffler shops
I've call most every muffler shop in three counties and all I get is horror stories about the type of exhaust I want.
Looking at duals with a magnaflow DI/DO 14" muffler with Tru-X and 2.5 pipe.
I've heard everything from your computer will shut down to gas mileage will drop to 10 mpg.
Any idea what gives?

Sounds like bs to me 10 mpg!!! I have a flow 40 series and I lost a little low end on my 97 4.6. You can buy maggie's stainless kit in the upper 400 range. I've seen that many people go to www.hottexhaust.com for the lowest price after punching in the code (if someone could help). Good luck.

Some shops are just dopes !!!
Here are the pictures of my '01 SCrew 2WD with a L Bassanni Cat back installed on it. Took out the facotry Y pipe, turned the driver's side at a 90* ( mandrel bent 90* ) and put them into the Bassani X pipe and on to the 2 SI/SO mufflers.
Picture of the Turns in the Bassani Kit ( comes this way for the L )
Tips exiting in front of the rear wheel, stock L location.
A bit of additional bending of off sets was needed, due to the retro fit of the L system on a NA engine. If you are starting out with just the muffler and X pipe, and the remainder is DIY, then it would not be quite so bad
If I would have just found some L headers that someone took off for some long tubes, I would have had an easier time of it.
Take a look for a speed shop that does custom work, they won't feed you the BS.
