New Exhaust

Reading on here, and comparing prices for the Magnaflow, I called a few of the venders we use around the Houston area, and was able to get a Magnaflow catback exhaust put on for $235 with the polished stainless steel tip. From the sites out there, I think the cheapest I found was around $377. So check your local exhaust shops out there and you might just find it cheaper. Sure the actual muffler isnt all nice and shiney....but im not showing my truck off at a truck show, so who cares. Its still the same lifetime warranty and now the 5.4 sounds like a truck should. Just make sure you goto a reputable shop though, we have been using this shop for over 16 years.

I drove around today to some of the tire/muffler shops and to Midas (listed as an installer on Magnaflow website). For a SISO w/ 3" pipe, I was quoted around $200-$210 for parts and install although all the shop managers didn't know which muffler model # was being qouted. I assume that they were pricing a universal ss muffler, exhaust pipe bent w/ tube bender and install. Not the kits w/ mandrel bent pipe listed on Magnaflow website. I have the 4.6 w/ auto trans, how much of a difference is the mandrel bent pipe gonna make? Is it worth the extra $175 for a kit plus the charge for install w/ welds?

Thats a personal preference really. I have the same exact muffler that Magnaflow lists SISO for the 5.4 SCab 6.5 bed, only mine isnt all nice and shiney. So u pay an extra $175 for the bling is all. I didnt want to give them any extra money. Still all stainless steel. heck...I could polish it myself if I really wanted too. Doesnt take much more than steel wool and then a polisher....

Yes the tubing is 3' stainless steel. Not shiney and polished, but are you gonna be looking or is anybody driving gonna be able to see your pipes? Thats why I only went with the polished exhaust tip. Im not ripping Magnaflow or Flowmaster or Borla...Im just saying if you do your shopping and can live without the bling.....U can get it done awhole lot cheaper at a local exhaust shop. Heck, Napa, Autozone, O'Reileys are all having sales on the mufflers so you can compare the prices with your local muffler shop.
