Hey man,

Got questions again....I read 2 posts by 2 separate people on the '04-'06 forums a couple of days ago who both said they had the 14" magnaflow installed on their trucks, and both said it wasn't very loud. They said you only hear it when you hit the gas or something, which is not what I'm looking for. Plus, one of them said that he had bought the 14" w/ a 4x9 casing I think, so do you know the difference between that and the 5x8 (I think that's the other one)? Is there a difference in sound or what? Magnaflow doesn't describe any of this stuff, they just list part #'s and all sites carrying them do mainly the same thing. If I decide to go w/ magnaflow for sure, which one of those casings should I get and why?

Higdogg, I am assuming that the 5x8 is the case that you want considering those are the dimensions of the muffler used in the Magnaflow catbacks. As far as the volume, the 14" is loud but not deafening. 4.64x4 was having some droning problems with his on the stock pipe with a tip. He got it dumped yesterday and he tells me the drone is gone, but it is still loud when he gets on it. You are going with tips out the back so the volume should be loud.

yeah, tips out the rear for sure. i thought there wasn't much drone w/ this one. i don't mind some drone as long as it's not super annoying or super loud drone. i'm used to the flowcrapster drone on my '93 anyway. Also, you got yours put where the stock muffler was, right? I was wondering if that has much to do w/ the drone on some people's. Seems like if they get the muffler placed right under the cab or something that it is inevitable to get drone. I mean, I get drone a little bit now w/ my factory muffler after 1 yr. It keeps getting louder it seems. I ordered some stuff for the truck lately, and that lift is on the way in jan. But i won't be getting it done until i can find some wheels i like though and get them here. Ending up spending much more than i wanted to and more than i thought, but still way less than most people on here are spending. This crap is high. How much were your wheels apiece?

So anyway, based on the way my muffler taste sounds to you, you still think this magnaho is the way to go for me? I drove a new dodge hemi the other day one of my buddies bought, he put a flowcrapster on there. Sounds great though. You get on it and it's got that dodge sound, fairly loud. But when you're idling or just cruising along, you can't really hear it at all. Perfect for him, he's about 34 w/ a wife and kid. So what did the hemi you knew of have on it when you had that imco that you guys compared the imco to?

the fords won't be as loud as dodges or chevies for 2 reasons:
1- they are a modular motor
2- they have 4 cats

Higdogg, the Magnaflow is perfect for you. In comparison, my buddy with a Chevy (3 chamber Flowmaster SI/DO) is switching to a dumped Magnaflow after hearing my truck! Now if I can convince him to switch from Silverado to F150... Go with the 14". It will be plenty loud and will sound great! As far as the idle sound, I can hear mine a little bit. With fuel injected trucks the idle is a lot quieter than on carbed and cammed engines. However, the upside is that they sound a lot smoother when you rev them out! My neighbor has true duals with Flowmasters on his Hemi. I believe they are Super 40s. He is almost 70 and has worked with cars all his life so he won't consider anything but Flowmaster for exhaust. He admits that "my truck is the best sounding Ford he's ever heard" and he hates Fords. He likes how smooth the Magnaflow is. Get the Magnaflow!

Well that is the plan and has been. I still want to get the lift on first though. I'm going to order the muffler and all soon as I plan on getting everything else on. So that old guy says that your magnaflow is the best sounding ford he's heard? I sure had my mind set on one til 2 or 3 got on here saying that the 14" magnaflow isn't very loud, like everybody used to post earlier this year. I'm going to get one, I know the smoothness by the sound clips, so it's got to sound good. I was just concerned at one point whether or not it would be loud enough. But if you say so, then I believe it because you've had them all. Thanks.
