Wow....true duals are LOUD!

Who says Chevys and Dodges are louder? HA!
Had my old catback w/ no muffler replaced today with 2" true duals from the back of the factory converters routed out under the back bumper with new 3.5" x 18" tips. Wow, what a difference. Much throatier/deeper sound, not as smooth as a catback, and more snap under hard accell. When the motor is cold and you give it 1/2 throttle, sounds like a mean crackly glasspack sound until the motor warms up more. You can definetely hear it in the cab, but it's not overpowering, but on the outside, its really loud. I think I might be purchasing some Magnaflow quiet mufflers soon.

Total Cost : $175 (labor, pipes, tips, no mufflers)

If you want sound, this is THE way to go! If you want more sound, hi flo or no converters will open these 4.6's / 5.4's up BIG time!

i found on jegs.com a universal true dual exhaust system to exit in front of the rear tires. its a 3" tubing system and i was going to put 3"in-3 1/2"out tips on it. the collectors are also 3". where can i find out the diameter that i will need in case that is the wrong size? and also it has the 3 bolt flange, will i be able to just change out the flange to the 2 bolt i need? i hope you will be able to help me. thnx.

May be good to bring the neighbors a peace offering before they wake up every morning (courtesy of your truck) and start throwing tomatoes at you.

What if you don't like your current Neon driving hippie neighbors?

Then do like my buddy does. He has a bronco with the 351. He runs open headers around the block every once and a while just to **** everyone off.

That sounds like a great idea, but too much work... I don't think that would make them that mad...but if one of my brothers plays in their yard, you woulda thought that he would have dropped trou and took a dump on their front porch.

I have a single chamber flowmaster, I lost a ton of low end, I'm probably going to switch back to the magnaflow. I am STILL nowhere near as loud or throaty as my buddy's Chevy with 3 Chamber flows. Would straight pipes cause you to lose low end, what are the down sides to that. It was not only cheaper, I'm assuming it would be louder than my single chamber if I had no muffler.

Josiah, your one chamber flowmaster sounds almost identical to straight pipes and acts the exact same way it would if you cut it off and put a straight pipe there. It is so small that it doesn't really accomplish much in the sound muffling category. You'll be in the same place performance wise with straight pipes as you are with your one chamber.

That was my hunch, thanks. How does the PCM realize what cats are connected (i.e. removing a cat will throw a CEL).
