True Duals?

I am thinking about taking off my cat back and ordering all new stuff. I want to get the mil eliminators and take off my cats, and I was wondering if I do that will I lose power from lack of back pressure. I would think that I would gain some power. Should I put an X pipe in for some backpressure? My plans are not cats and true duals w/ 2 chamber Flowmasters straight out the back. Has anyone else taken their cats off. Did you lose any power. I am sure that it will sound better, but I just wanted know about the performance.

Its no use asking this question, because I asked the similar question a few weeks ago to do on my Expy. I want to leave my converters on but use an "x" pipe and true duals. No one responded so I guess we're on our own. Seems if you don't have a name for yourself on this site you don't get noticed. When I get my pipes and mufflers and put them all on I'll look you up and let you know how it sounds and if I gain/lose power. I'll most likely have everything on after the holidays.

it will sound better if you take your 4 cats off and replace them with 2 high flow cats. i would get stainless steel imco pro series. they are simliar to fowmaster 40's, but they sound deeper. run 2.5" magnaflow x-pipe, 2.5" mufflers, and 2.25" tailpipes. with these engines you will see better performance out of 2.25" tubing unless there is a lot of engine work. tips are your choice, but i like the 4"x22" magnaflow tips. they dont come in 2.25" inlets, but an exhaust shop can swell the tubing up.

I have a true dual setup like your proposing heres how it goes i got the front 2 catalitic converters removed...you can do this without throwing a mil because the o2 sensors are infront of the cat...Then i cut the pipe where it comes to a Y and added some pipe to both sides to join with an magnaflow SS xpipe i bought from ebay. From there it goes into pipes connected to 2 bassani BX universal mufflers and out the back through stock harley davidson tail pipes...make sure the guy doing this can weld...i can say my truck feels and sounds great after having this done
Check out

click i agree at the bottom of the page...nothing beats the sound of bassani
Good luck with your system if i had a good camera i would post pictures of mine

You will need some cats as no cats will result in a loss of bp that would adversely affect performance..the stock 4 cc setup is restrictive ...go with a 2 cat setup for best results...

Maybe it's your ****ty attitude that is the reason for the lack of response to YOUR questions.

I'm sorry if you think I have an attitude....I most certainly in any of my posts have not tried to come off that way. I just stated a general observation when I wrote that reply. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I already did this mod.

Dual 3 inch pipes into jeep 6 cyl high flow cats, into flowmaster 40 series and out the rear side. (navigators have air ride, and the sensors block a dual rear exit without elimination of hte spare tire)

I did not equalize (x or H pipe) my exhuast, and it still sounds meaner than hell.

I hadn't seen your question mike, or I would have answered it. Feel free to PM me anytime and I'll answer your questions

I removed my complete exhaust system from the maifold back. Then I fabricated some 2 down pipes, and installed 2 magnaflow high flow cats, that go into there own straight pipes that connect to a magnaflow dual in dual out muffler and ive got it exiting in front of the right rear tire. All my sensors are fine, didn't throw a code.

Thanks Navi....after the holidays is when I'm gonna start to tackle the Expy....I'm thinking of keeping the cats the way they are (I'm not rich yet hahaha!) cutting the "y" pipe off and putting the "x" pipe there. I'm thinking of running 2.5 pipes to 2 flowmasters. Then was thinking of running 2.25 pipes to each corner of the rear bumper. Of course I'll have the ends flared up so I can put big round tips on! I'm looking for more noise and hoping to get alittle more performance out of it. Thanks again!
