My two cents

I've been doing alot of reading on the forums and noticed alot of "low end power loss" with the flowmaster, well i beg to differ to an extent. I had one installed with a pipe afterward then had it dump before the axle. I left the muffler shop @ WOT and dident notice any loss of power. Only when i cut the pipe after the muffler off(wanted to see what a difference it would make) did i notice a slight decrease of low end power. Bring the hate

I did the same thing as you did when I had a Flowmaster 40 Series dumped. However my pipe was only 8 inches long at most. I definitely lost torque compared to stock. How long was your pipe to maintain the low end?

three foot maybe...with a crappy bend where the machine shop used a pipe bender, it dumped right before the axle.

Just because you do or do not notice any power difference does not mean there was/was not any change. How calibrated is your butt dyno? Most people (myself included) cannot feel 5% power difference.

BTW, what criteria are you using to determine the relative power? With automatics, you'll only reach low speed peak torque in first gear as the tranny will downshift under 2500rpm in 2nd gear+. Wheel dynos are proof, butt dynos are not.

Who cares? You like the sound and perceived performance, so what more could you want?

I am aware of the fact that you wont notice that little bit of a difference....truck seems to respond different. Use to, I could accelerate with traffic with ease or even leave traffic, it just seems like it has to turn a little more now. Is this an example of a loss of backpressure?

Time and time again this comes up, and time and time again some people say they'll do a comparison of Flowmaster and some other muffler, and time and time again there is a deafening silence thereafter. I think sometimes that the test was done, and the evidence was damning, so nobody ever owns up to it.

I've been thinking about a SIDO 40 w/ 2.5 inlet and 2.25 outlets, would that help?
