How much louder?

I currently have the 24" magnaflow on my 2004 F150. I like it...but wouldn't mind if it was abit louder. How much louder is the 18"???

I have no experience with the 24". I had a Stainless 5x8x18 put on my S'Crew. I love it. Sounds great, nice rumble at idle. Nice tone when driving and nearly quiet without any Flowmaster type drone on the highwat with cruise set.

Not too bad, it's has more rumble on start up and idle and acceleration. It also moans more when going 60 - 75.

I wish I had heard about you wanting to do this a week ago. I'd of traded you my brand new magnaflow muffler for your 24".

Instead I put a resonator in front of my 18". That really quieted it down. The best thing I would compare it to is the idle on the new Denali exhaust. Then accelerating a little lounder. With a slight moan going 60 - 75.

Well, I could share some great input on this actually. I have a 2005 3v 5.4 screw with the shorter Magnaflow and I find it has a great blend of growl, volume, and not droning when cruising. It sounds absolutely badass and mean when you get on it excessively, but at the same time it does NOT cause issues when cruising.

My friend has a 2002 supercab 5.4 and he got the longer magnflow. His sounds good too, but it is even less noticable on acceleration. I would say unless you "get on it" if you have the windows up or the music on you may even forget it is there.

On my shorter magnaflow though you can somewhat tell it is there with medium acceleration...just a tad bit more growl.

If you want louder, get a 1 chamber flowmaster or IMCO muffler. They are about the loudest out there. And, IMO, contrary to most on here, there is no unacceptable power loss (unless you think a 1% loss is detrimental)
