sulfer smell

Hey Guys

One quick question. I have noticed a sulfer smell in the cab recently. It is not constant but sometimes after a short trip on the hi-way. I know what your thinking but it wasn't me. The truck dosn't run bad or anything and I have been running BP gas for the last few tankfulls. If the cats wre clogging would the truck run bad or give any symptoms other than the smell? Milage has been the same and everything seems to be running ok.

Any response will be appreciated

Go to a different gas station. Some gas stations have a higher sulfar level in their gas. I had the same thing, and the dealer told me if you always go to the same gas staion w/ high sulfar the sulfar can buid up in your cats, so just alternate your gas stations.

Thanks for the suggestions. I used two different BP stations.I friend of mine owns the oil company that supplies all of the local BP stations so I was giving him the business. My other options in name brand gas is Get Go and Sunoco. I don't buy off brand gas anymore. The Get Go gas gives me less MPG and that is bad with the price. I tried the Sunoco a few times but I really didn't pay attention to MPG.

current gas in circulation has a high sulfur content which will gunk up in the cats and on the fuel sending unit.. and cause it to read incorrectly. and cause many other problems. so stick to name brand quality gas stations and save ur engine.. i stick with BP or chevron gas... runs best in my truck. no sulfure smell or nock

Faster, I think that gas is pretty well gone now. The higher sulfur content gas which is quicker and easier to refine was in circulation for 6 or 8 weeks after Katrina, but unless you go to a very low volume gas station you should be getting it anymore. A slightly clogged cat will cause some of the smell you speak of as well
