Duals on '92-'96 4x4

Hey, I'm new here and had a question on exhaust. Wanted true duals and the sweet sound of 'packs, so I was wondering if the 92-96 guys thought this would work:

Cut the stock pipes just south of the crossover with the O2 sensor where it's still duals. From there, run the duals where the single went with their own single cats (somewhere around that middle crossmember). Behind that, glasspacks. Then, towards the back run them to the sides of the truck.

How much would that cost a good kustom pipe shop to fab up? Any clearance issues to look out for?

Thanks in advance

I had a 1990 F250 which has a similar setup so I will go for it on this one. As long as you don't have inspections you should definitely do it. Opening up the exhaust will sound great and will yield better performance and mileage. What engine do you have in the truck? I wouldn't go larger than 2.25 inches for the duals with the 302 or 351w. I'm guessing that setup will cost you between $200 and $300. Things are cheaper in Texas, so hopefully closer to $200.

EDIT: Just read your sig, the 302 is a great engine! I gotta say, I think Flowmasters sound the best on the 302, but if you like glasspacks then you should do what you like best!

My buddy has a 93 with the 351 and got duals on it. Cut out the y pipe and went from there back, 2.5 inch pipe, 20" or so glasspacks, and 16ishx3.5 inch chrome tips. Sounds pretty nive and is loud. He gained a little power from it to. I used to be able to beat him with my 4.6 before his exhaust, after he got it he would smoke me every time. 2.25 might be a little better on the 302 though, however I dont really think with a 302 that the difference between 2.25 and 2.5 inch pipe would be much, if even noticable at all.

Thanks for the info! That definitely helps.

Yeah, we do have inspections, which is the only reason I'm keeping cats on it. But the rules are, as long as you have a muffler(s) and the same number of cats (2 total in this case) as came from the factory, it's legal. I'm probably going with either 2.25 in/2" out or 2" in/1-7/8" out - gives glasspacks that extra rap that I like when you reduce the outlet size. Had 2.5" duals on my '68 Mustang/302, ran great (I agree 302's are wonderful motors), but it was also modded more and took better advantage of the extra flow. We got Flowmasters (Delta Flow 40's) on our '67 Mustang convertible also with a 302, can't say I'm a Flowmaster fan on 8's, they sounded GREAT on every 6 I've heard 'em on though. Now...glasspacks or Smithy's pipes...

PS how do I post pictures on here?

This might sound kinda stupid...but...since the engine is computerized, wouldn't I have to reprogram the computer or something after I put the pipes on?
