Side exhaust....
Side exhaust....
I have a 2005 Screw and I was thinking about doing a side exhaust similar to a Gibson. I have two brand new 50 series Flowmasters and I was going to purchase the Gibson tips and have the rest fabbed up. My question is this...Will it be annoying coming out in the same location as the Gibson (right before the rear tire)? I haven't found anyone local with the same set up... I guess if I should just ride in my friend's Lightning and see how bad his sounds. The only reason I ask, is because I will have clients in my truck from time to time (real estate) and I don't want it too loud. Thanks for any input!!

i have mine coming out the pass. side before the tire, it is alittle wierd, it sounds like someone with a loud exuast is next to you all the time, i have a one chamber muffler tho so mine is loud, i dont think it would be bad with the flowmaster 50 tho, good luck
I have a 50 series dualed out the back that i wish i had routed out to the side, in front of the passenger wheel. The 50 Flowmaster series isnt loud, just low. I think to chrome tips in front of the pass. tire would be awesome!
Hey man I just thought I would warn u about the side exits on the new 150. I have true dual magna flows comming out in front of the right rear tire, and while I love the look the sounds is somehting else. Before I installed the magna flow I had true dual 40 series flowmasters comming out at the same location and they sounded awful, they origionally came out from the back and it was one of the best sounding trucks in town but when I popped the flows out the side they sounded like utter crap. This led me to install magnaflow in hopes that it may help the sound and it did but it still sounds odd at midrange, oh and it isnt too loud. I am plannng to get the pipes rerouted back out the back soon. Oh and by the way the reason that a lightning sounds different with the side exhaust is because the exhaust gasses are released at a much higher velocity and travel through the bends of the exhaust faster which reduses the effect that side pipes have on the sound. I have also found that side pipes are considerably quieter at idle, because of the lack of echo. Well I hope u read this and think about ure decision very carefully side pipes look really good but if it is sound that u want go classic style and runnem out the back

Thanks again!
