I got my IMCO muffler installed!!!

First off, let me say that I was running a Gibson Dual Sport exhaust system on my truck prior to this. NO COMPARISON WHATSOEVER!

I had the Gibson muffler replaced with a (SI DO) IMCO Extreme muffler. It sounds great! Not too loud...but close. Not too quiet.

It sounds spot on perfect. I compare it to a 4.6L GT Mustang with Flowmaster exhaust...just my opinion.

For anyone like me who has a 2001 f-150 4.6L, and thought your truck was quiet natured and that you could't get a good rumble exhaust like those Dodges and Chevys...think again.

Just remember, my truck has four cats from the factory...that may be why this muffler is not too loud on my truck (I believe the new f-150's have only two cats, which makes the muffler seem louder...I think).

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I didn't notice any drone problems yet...I will keep you posted.

Sorry, I don't have any way to post a sound clip and I don't have a digital camera to take a pic...not like I would know how to post it anyway.

By the way, the muffler I took off my truck is for sale. It is a Gibson Dual sport (SI DO) Stainless steel muffler. It is three years old, no rust...looks near brand new still. It has a good tone, but is too quiet for my taste. Make a decent offer and pay shipping and its yours.

cool, let us know about how much drone there is. I like the mustang sound that you're talking about, but I have the 5.4 and I wonder if it would be much louder. My truck has 2 cats that I know of for sure, but in front of the cats there is something else on each side, not sure what it is. Its a different shape than the cats, but a little smaller. Anyone know what that is?

well I just finished my first long drive with the new muffler.

It sounds very aggressive and musclecar-ish around town. At wide open throttle my open K&N airbox and new exhaust produce a roar that is loud enough to make my ears tingle...YES!!!

On the highway at 60-70 mph the muffler is very tame. It is barely noticable versus my old Gibson muffler...unless you tromp on the gas!! Then you get the roar again when the tranny downshifts.

Overall, I am very pleased with the results. I would recomend the muffler for those who want an aggressive "look at me" type exhaust note.

Those who just want a little louder than stock...need not apply.

Yes, you have 1 "pre-heater" or pre-cat, and 1 CAT per side or 2 pre-heaters and 2 cats. The pre-heaters can't help improve exhaust flow...

From reading your post, it appears to me that you were able to order a SI/DO IMCO muffler by itself. Is that right? I can not find anywhere on the net that has the IMCO Extreme SI/DO with out buying the whole cat back. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks!!

Well, no, but the pre-heaters don't really hurt the flow much either. And they DO help the environment.

yeah, its the "original" flowmaster. supposedly the most powerful , aggressive and the loudest. It sounds like Dar Dar likes his and its not a pricey muffler so...i'll give it a shot.

I am most likely going to get the IMCO but I dont know if I should get rid of my Borla because I know the Borla is made well and I dont know if the IMCO will be made as well or if it will last a long time.

Damn, I lucked out and had a guy at a local shop install an IMCO SI/DO muffler. It sounds awesome. I was only wanting to put a Y-pipe with some chrome tips for the looks. The guy at the shop talked me into putting the IMCO muffler and I highly recommend it.
