magnaflow compared to flowmaster
Backpressure does not mean improved scavenging or low end power.
You want to maintain maximum exhaust velocity to improve scavenging. Backpressure, no matter how you slice it, will not improve an engine's power production at any point.
I prefer the Magnaflow. My friend has a muffler shop, and I have heard both exhausts back to back. The Magnaflow has a nice tone to it, but not overly loud. If I want a droning exhaust, I will go drive my SE-R with it's 4" turbo back exhaust.

I don't have, nor will I ever have one of those cheap cars, but they now must be factored into the equation just like all others. When you take into account for Hyundai, Kia, daewoo, and so forth you are looking at a large share of the market. THeir cars are cheap enough for just about anyone to get financed on. THererfore, they get a large market share and their weight increases. I am well aware of what Ford uses stainless exhaust on, it was on mine and was promptly sent to the scrap pile for my custom job. My problem is not saying that stainless isn't better, it's calling regular substandard. Substandard (as it has been called) in this case is the industry workhorse. And on those cheap cars, it can come with up to a 100K mile warranty. I also have a problem with people saying, it'll rust off within two years. Its just not true at all. A well kept vehicle will not have the system fall off in two years, probably not even 10 if not exposed to SEVERE salt and corrosion. I lived in Charleston SC for years and never had a single exhaust issue with my non-stainless system on my mustang. Thats right on the coast, sand and salt everyday in the air. I mean, its just not true whats been stated, and I am showing the facts
Six of one, half dozen of the other
If you are interested in sound, nothing beats the Flowmaster. The Magnaflow may have slightly better performance but come on let's face it, when most people select an exhaust they are worried more about how it sounds than the 3 horsepower gain more from a different muffler.
I have the 2005 5.4L and I made a decision between Magnaflow and Flowmaster. The Magnaflow IS the best flowing exhaust of the two but the Flowmaster sounds better by far. So, I could have gained a horsepower or 2 more but I went for sound. It just comes down to what you like. Don't do it because so called "experts" say it is the best, do research and decide on your own. I personally went for sound over slightly better performance. It just boils down to research and what you are getting it for.
Hope this little rant helps.

I rather put that money into my tuner kitty.
[QUOTE=harborbreeze]Flow is cheaper because it is NOT stainless.
In this case you get what you pay for.
I've had a Flow 40 since 2001, and it has just now started to show signs of rust. Five years isn't bad for an aluminized muffler. I'd say it's got another two years in it. But I problably won't keep it that long.
If you live up North where it snows alot in the Winter, it problably won't last as long due to the road salt and moisture. In that case, the Magnaflow would be the better choice.

If you don't mind changing systems out every two years or so, flow is the way to go.

I'll fill'r back up and let you know if there was any increase.
Hey man I'm in DFW area where can I go to get the same deal you got?
According to on-line sites these exhaust run 500-600 bucks?!? Help me out man!
with the troyer tune or without, go with the magnaflow single 3" for tow performance or dual rear or side exit for an awesome sound and look..
Magnaflow F150 Exhaust
