IMCO or Flowmaster? What's louder???

Which muffler would be the loudest on a 2001 4.6L V8 F-150?

IMCO Extreme or Flowmaster Original 40 series?

I just listened to sound clips of both at the company's website. To me it sounded like the IMCO was the loudest and best sounding. But its hard to tell by just listening to a sound clip.

Anyone with have an opinion?

The IMCO 1 chamber is definitely the best sounding and the loudest. I think it's too loud myself. The drone on the highway is unbelievable. The 40 Series I had sounded OK and was a decent volume.

Sounds like IMCO Extreme is the one for me!

I want insanely loud!!!

My truck is an extra vehicle...and I dont have to commute on the highway anyway. I want to have fun in my truck and I want people to hear me from a block away.

Thanks for your input.

I found a dealer in town that will order me one for around 75-80 bucks. Is that a good deal?

I found the IMCO EXtreme to be the best muffler I've had yet, and I've gone through 4 now. It's not insanely loud, like no one will confuse with a drag-racer, but it has a real nice rumble to it. I love the hell out of mine.
I've heard of some people gettin some on ebay for like $40-60, but then you have to find someone to install it...

Performance-curve.com has them for $35.99. Less than $50 shipped. Don't get ripped off!

I have never heard an IMCO, but I know the flowmaster 1 chamber is really loud. I would have to imagine though that straight pipe is louder

I ordered my IMCO muffler today. It should take a week or so until it comes in. After I get it installed, I update you guys on how it sounds. It should be a lot louder than my Gibson muffler I have right now.

higdogg,

I've got the 4.6L V8 in my truck. As far as a sound clip goes, I will have to talk to my computer buddies and see if they can do that for me. I don't know that much about computers, I can barely check my own e-mail.

V-Force mufflers

i have a 98 with a 4.6 i have a single 3" exhaust all the way out (block to tail) with a V-Force muffler. I think flowmaster makes it. people ask me if i have headers and still have the stock cat. very Throaty. i set car alarms off.
also installed is a hypertech programmer and a drop in K&N filter.
