Talking Exhaust Question

Is having straight pipes going to mess up anything?

That depends on who you ask!

Will it physically damage your engine, no. Will it change the way your vehicle runs...yes. Can i compensate for these changes...possibly.

An engine is an 'air pump'. Running striaght pipes WILL change the 'characteristics' of how your engine runs (Flame war begins now!), whether those changes are good or bad can only be determined by you.

Then there is that whole emissions stuff. Different states have different regulations regarding the removing of emission equipment. I would suggest checking the local laws first.

And lastly, there is Johnny Law. They tend to frown on loud pipes trying to sneak in late to church.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck.

If you're speaking of the 5.4 litre then... I have no idea-- but in my case where the truck has a 4.6, then go for it. With a lower compression engine like this, it's not too loud, and you can pull it off.

I have friends with straight pipes on their 5.7 350's and I can't even sit in the cab-- it's too loud... With mine you can hardly hear it when cruising on the highway.

I had a 98 F-150 EXT. CAB 4.6L when I use to live in Clarksville. (was in army) I had a shop on wilma rudolph custom bend a dual rear exit with a straigt pipe setup. IT ROCKED. Wasn't to loud, unless I wanted to be. When it was cold it would krackle a little bit, less quiet as it warmed up. That shop charged me around $225 w/ tips. I want my 05 to sound the same, but I have to do my homework on what to do first.
