Flowmaster Low end Torque

I don't want to start the whole debacle about flowmaster over again, but I was running some datastream info on my nav and noticed that I had a net vehicle torque line so I decided to see what it was. Took it down the road and I was running (on the highest run) 347 pounds of torque at 2000 RPM. Now, doens't that contradict what everybody keeps saying about flowmaster and the loss of low end torque? I could be wrong here, but I thought it had been stated that under 3K RPM you lost torque with flowmaster. I dont think thats a loss of torque at all, granted my application is blown.

The only way to know if there was a loss with your muffler, exhaust, or any other modification is to perform the same test before and after said mod. So, what was the number before the Flowmaster? Assuming you don't know, your number doesn't mean much.

BTW, I don't know what you have for exhaust, Flowmaster muffler (which one?) and custom pipes or Force II cat-back?

Then why start this thread?

As was already stated, your numbers mean NOTHING without something to compare it to.

I'll do the same testing if someone wants to lend me a muffler. I'm in Central Arkansas.

Considering that from the factory it came with 325 pounds, I'd say the number has a lot of signifigance. Thats a 25 pound increase on the top end of the spectrum, and that was at 2000rpm. assuming an error rate of
+/- 5% and thats still only 16 pounds either way, and I seriously doubt it would be off that far from the factory spec.

I just wonder why some of you refuse to look at this stuff even in the face of raw data. I'm not making it up if thats what you mean. If it will please you and calm your jets, I'll get a tq reading off another one just like mine.

Sorry, every vehicle is made with tolerances. you don't know what your engine made stock. Comparing to another vehicle that is "the same" is not a comparison either. Scientific method: control everything, vary just one thing at a time.

Really, just give it a rest. You really love your truck and its mods. Enjoy them!

Isn't your Navi supercharged? So the supercharger and the flowmaster only gained you 25 lb/ft of torque?

I'm starting to smell BS.

Flywheel (advertised) vs. rear wheels. No one knows how much was gained over stock with any mods unless they compared back to back.

I am enjoying it, I love it, gas sucking beast it is. The scanner says net torque. And I said the torque was was 2000 RPM for idiots who can't read and make asinine statements like, "isn't it supercharged and you only got./...."

Tell you what, go get something worth the time and then you can't chime in. A magnaflow exhaust and 2.5 autospring are not the credentials for an authority on anything but cheap bolt on's that anyone can do\ in their driveway on sat afternoon. (not to knock others who started wiht a bolt on exhaust, just this jack leg who has so much thoughful input)

I am going to the dyno tomorrow, and then we'll see, with your proof in the charts.

I really hate when things have to get personal.

You said your truck made 345 lb/ft and that stock it made 325 lb/ft right. I didn't dream that up. I still don't understand what the point of this thread is.

By the way, since you brought my ability to build a rig into question, here's a pic of my Jeep. ALL of the work on it was done by me and my two welding machines.

I'm not taking sides here! I am neutral. I run IMCO. I don't know how
they stack up against Flowmaster. All I know is that the internals are different. Also, from personal experience, my first muffler was a Flowmaster 40 Series dumped. My current exhaust is a 3 inch IMCO 1 chamber. I definitely have more torque with the IMCO. I don't know if this is due to the pipe or the muffler itself (which is 6 inches long and has 1 wall that goes halfway through it ). It's loud.

Ok, the dyno failed to read. It was a dynojet, the only one I could get on, as everyone else was tied up for at least a week. THey didn't even charge me for the time it was so effed up. It would start to run up, and at about 3500RPM it would hit 205HP, make a loop on the graph (yeah, a loop like go backwards and come around again) then spiral downwards. You could tell it wasn't working just listening to it. It spiked one time, for a half second at 347 then dropped to 0. So we didn't know what to make of it. Shop estimated 350HP and 440# torque. Those aren't official or verified, just the shops estimation using that spike as a guide. I know that doens't mean shiat, but when I can get an opening somewhere around here to get a valid reading I will. The weather was crappy enough today that I could get out and do some stuff, but nobody else has a dyno thats available right now

And my bad on the skillz bashing, I'm just pissed off that everyone who likes magnaflow is acting like I am about Flowmaster.

At least they didn't charge you for the time.
