Pre-Cats or High Flow Cats

I have a 2001 F150. As everyone knows these trucks have 2 Pre-Cats & 2 Catalytic Converters.

My question is:
If I cut my Pre-Cats off (leave the other cats alone) and replace them with just a straight pipe would it give me the same sound as if I replaced all 4 cats with 2 High Flow cats? I am going for the sound results more than the hp gain.

Thanks

Removing two of the four cars will reduce the backpressure, and maybe slightly increase the sound, but if your gonna do it, do it right

Thanks guys

Just trying to get some imput from other people who have done this before. I am still torn between cutting the Pre-Cats off or replacing the whole set up with High Flow Cats. I will do a little more looking & reading.
