y-pipe ?

Who here has changed out the y-pipe with an aftermarket brand while doing a cat-back exhaust? I am looking at the Magnaflow kit for my 2002 with the dual exhaust (#15749) and want to swap out the y-pipe with the magnaflow 2 into 1 3" outlet, but i don't know what size the inlet is for the muffler with the kit. Any help, thoughts, comments, concerns....?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Thanks...

I did this with my first exhaust. The catback systems are made to go with the stock pipes up to the beginning of the catback system, so I am willing to bet it is a 2.5" inlet. However, you could probably get the 3" outlet on the y-pipe and be able to mate the leading pipe to it without any trouble, since it is a flanged end. Don't know for sure though. I just changed out my exhaust again and went dual-in, dual-out. I cut out my y-pipe and went into a dual-in muffler instead. Much nicer install in my opinion.

I agree with eliminating the Y-pipe as well. I went with dual pipes into a DI/SO Flowmaster with a 3" tailpipe. Real happy with the results.
