need some help please

i am having problems!!!!!!
i have a 4.6l in a 97' 4x4. i "think" my cats are stopped up. the engine runs/misses really bad. what cats would you folks run? i am just getting into adding some mods to the truck and need some info from the pros.
just received an fipk kit today, still waiting on msd coil packs and ford motor racing plug wires. what else would you people do for better performance.
the truck has 150,000 miles on it if that matters.also working with a limited budget, 3 year old twins take alot of money.
thanks kev.

I must agree, let that engine breath. I am as soon as I graduate this December.

Plugged cats make the engine seem like you are driving with your foot on the brake when you hit the gas or you hear a stange "whooshing" sound from the exhaust. Missing or stumbling I'm guessing would be caused by something else.

what is the best exhaust out there in yalls opinion?
i have heard everybody talk about flowmaster but, was wondering if there is anything better?

When you cut the cats be sure to get some O2 simulators for just your down stream sensors. You can get them at http://www.rpmoutlet.com for about $50. Also get a x pipe if you plan on true duels to keep your torque on the low end because that is the biggest complaint of people who don't. Magnaflow is said to be a lot better for these trucks. Sorry I am being short I am in a hurry today.

I put in a DI/SO Flowmaster recently. It eliminated the restrictive factory Y-pipe, gave me duals into the muffler and a 3" tailpipe. Had a SI/SO Flowmaster before that which just replaced the factory muffler. No complaints about Flowmaster.
