Question What is the best exhaust system out there?

Hello. I just got my drivers license and I want to get an exhaust system on my truck. My truck is a 1998 F-150 XLT. I want to know which exhaust system shows noticable power gains and sounds great. I want my truck to sound and perform as good as my dad's corvette.

Ain't no exhaust system you can put on a #5000 truck and have it perform like a Corvette.... Chevette maybe....ha, ha.....

Now, you can get it to sound pretty mean. Since you are 16, I think that just having a nice F150 to call your own is a pretty cool thing.... My first car at 16 was a 1971 Ford LTD!! Couldn't afford to put anything but gas in the tank and pay some insurance, so my mods to it were very limited.... I did get a dual exhaust setup for it and it sounded pretty good!

The most popular mufflers here seem to the the Flowmasters and the Magnaflows. If you have the 5.4, you can get away with a single 3" system, but if it's the 4.6, you might want to stick with a single 2.5" system.

If you want to go duals, (single inlet, dual outlet) get it with 2.25" tail pipe and your choice for the tip size.

That will keep you from losing too much low end. Still won't do anything to a Vette, but would sound pretty good!!

Good luck!

Mitch

No one has proven more rear wheel torque than the Magnaflow #15609.

Maybe I should have added "to me." I have yet to see someone with a dyno chart showing more than 10lb-ft improvement for any custom or cat-back system except Magnaflow's #15609. In addition, I have this for backup.

Want it loud? Flowmaster. Want it deep and more power? Magnaflow. Want it loud as HELL, deep, and gain power? IMCO Extreme 1-chamber. There is no comparison.

I say go with flowmaster or gibson if you can get it done for the right price which is very hard to find as I still got the stupid stock system on my truck that I had for a little over 5 and a half years now.
