Is this a problem?

Okay, I freely admit that I know little about exhaust! With that said my current ride had dual exhaust on it when I bought it last year. It's true dual exhaust with no crossover and what look to be no name mufflers. There is NO crossover at all. When the truck idles it sounds like a boat, BLUB BLUB BLUB BLUB BLUB. Kinda cool, but I want to know if it's costing me any power? Here's a pic...

Yeah, they're up there somewhere.I think you can see part on the right one just above the skid plate. I'll see if I have a better pic on the computer at home.

I would say you would be losing bottom end. Those mufflers don't look like much more than blisters on the pipes. Depending on the size of your pipes, most would stick with 2 1/4" for duals to keep the torque up. With no crossovers and the "blisters" you're pretty much running straight pipes.

Thanks. That was somewhat similar to what my uneducated opinion was/is. I'm lacking power on the low end. Now just need to fix it...

go to a mom and pop shop and have them weld in a H or X pipe they will know what your talking about... it will gain you some more bottom end. also those things u have are called glass packs.. they will blow out eventually and be basically the same has putting a hollow pipe on the exhaust.. if you dont want the sound of straight pipe i would get a set of mufflers... currently i have flowmaster but i know alot of people have had great luck with magnaflow.. i havent had any problems its just basically my sound preference. if you dont mind the sound of true duals then just add the H or X pipe just to balance out the pressure on both banks of the engine. you wort hurt anything if you dont but u will have differant flow rates at differant times and it will make the flow threw each bank not as smooth as it would be with a cross over pipe attached.

Thank ye! It doesn't sound BAD, just not 'right' or at least not to me. In fact it's really not that loud, surprisinly enough. When I had the smaller tip in place (2.25") there was a little rumble that you could hear when excellerating, since one of those fell off I had to replace it with a 3.5"x18" tip. It sounds kinds cool , but there a little resonance in the cab. I'm going to look into 2 magnaflows and a crossover pipe when I get a chance.

heres somthing to think about where is the o2 sensor in the exhaust the reason i ask is if you have it in one pipe and not the other what if that side is running richer or leaner than the other this could cause fuel problems or be running the engine lean just a thought....

I haven't stuck my head under there in a while, but I'm 99% sure that there's the proper number of O2's in there.
