Want more outside growl!
Want more outside growl!
I had a Magnaflow 3" si/ 2.25" do muffler installed with dual 3" stainless tips coming out of the corners. At first, it was exactly what I wanted. I feel more butt dyno power, it's very quiet inside the truck when cruising or towing, and it's got a good growl when I get on it from the inside. However, the other day, after a couple of months having it on the truck, I had a buddy drive it down the road past me and take off in front of me and all you can hear are the stock tires and the engine. NO EXHAUST!!! What could I do to add more outside sound but still keep little-to-no cab drone and keep power? Would larger tips help (I'm thinking this is a no)? I have a Flowmaster 40 si/so sitting at the house unused that I could add a Y-pipe behind and keep the dual exits the same. Would this work or should I buy another muffler? I saw in a search that someone said the Flowmaster 40 sounds hollow like a Mustang on these trucks. If this hollow sound can be made by these trucks, I want to know how b/c I've only ever heard it on a Stang, never on a truck. Thanks for the help!

At high RPMs my truck through my 40 Series sounds just like a Mustang. Normal acceleration it sounds like a truck should. If you use tips you'll get a more Mustang sound. I run it dumped because I want it loud inside and out and I'm going for truck sound, and that's exactly what I get.
what do you mean that you dumped the exhaust I have a super 40 sido and I have it ran straight out the back and I don't like it because they look too small like pea-shooters so I am taking it into the muffler shop tommorow to have it dumped and was wondering where you dumped yours and what it looks like (pics would be nice) thanx
