Hi .

I'll keep my (no longer shiney), overpriced Maggie, and my low-end torque - and preserve the turkeys.
Well done yet again, Max. Alas, no pictures?
Also, I see you seem to have misplaced one of your L's.
Cheers

I see no point in wasting my money on mufflers when the exhaust sounds better without them, and no loss of power has been noticed.
But then it's your money.
It's also my ears that have to listen to it because I don't care for that type of sound. My neighbor wouldn't like it at 6:00 in the morning just 10 feet away in his bedroom.
I do agree at someone buying a turbo, or baffled muffler is wasting their money.

There are those who modify their exhaust simply to have the loudest sounding POS on the block, apparently that is you. Then there are those who are concerned with performance and quality, I give you maxmitchell.
When you have been answering exhaust questions as long as max, you will most likely come up with more creative ways to answer peoples questions too.
Regardless of how you receive his advise, it does not change the fact that......HE IS RIGHT!!!

MGDfan-
You too ! Funny stuff. Oh, I have photos.
I still have both L's.
This has turned out to be an interesting thread once you filter out the recommendations for "The worst exhaust mod ever done on a heavy truck with a small displacement engine." Let's see....hillbilly state inspection inadequacies, mullet donning, poetic sarcasm, hunting fowl with your grill, homeowner's etiquette, dynamic group psychology, and movie trivia. Yes, movie trivia.

Movie night at Gary42141's shack.

I really hope you guys are gonna keep it nice. As for Gary42141's exhaust sound.. it reminds me of a much older vehicle, I definately would think some piece of junk was coming down the road. I just don't like it, my opinion though.
APT, a turbo or baffled muffler is only a waste of money if you don't like the exhaust note, and I don't see how they would hurt performance.
You want the sound of a glasspack, fine, cheap and gets the job done.
You want magnaflow, flowmaster, etc, fine, gets the job done too, and might have the sound you are looking for.
You want Straight through pipes, fine, really cheap, might like the sound, but others may really just hate it.(Some people may think magnaflow sounds better than flowmaster, but I doubt most would say they "hate" the sound of flowmaster or something similar)

Schism9,
I think Flowmaster's (and most other turbo/baffle style) sound similar to no muffler, like what Gary42141 has. I don't like it, but a lot of people do. Gary is right, it's just my opinion on how it sounds. He likes it and I don't have to listen to it so let him be.

Exhaust snobs
Yea, glasspacks are great - if you don't mind replacing them every 3 years or so. With the technological advances in todays trucks, especially emissions, engine managment, performance and comfort I don't understand why anyone would install 50 year old technology to manage the exhaust. Not saying I don't like them, I've owned many a set myself. Just does'nt seem logical to put them on a late model truck when there are systems and components out there that offer so much more. But, to each his own. Wide, white sidewalls anyone??
