You are part of the problem.

Don't have to? What, are you above the law or something? Just because someone isn't watching over your shoulder doesn't mean that it is OK to break the law. I'll bet that you make 'shine and hunt at night too. I guess ethics aren't your strong point.
I thought all ford truck drivers made "shine", fished, hunted (at night too, and slapped liberals

I believe Kentucky is like Missouri where State law/State Vehicle Inspection requires that you have a cat converter and muffler in order to get your plates renewed. Even though the local police may or may not stop you for running straight pipes they do have the right to write you a ticket for doing so!

A couple of options to make it louder, but they both cost money, of course. Flowmaster's new Super 40 is much louder than the regular 40 - listen to the sound bytes here.

Or try their new HushpowerII muffler which when dynoed was only 2% more restricted than straight pipes - see here -

That way you are legal and your LOUDER!

Peace man - that is until you start your truck!

WOW way fast i think you have a point. If people start telling you what to do with your exhaust where does it stop there. I mean it starts with the little things then moves on up to bigger and bigger things. I have personally no cats on my truck, i didnt want it that way but thats what my di*& mechanic gave me. Here in iowa we dont have those kinds of emissions checks so if you want to get away with it move here. In bigger citys i can see why they have that because of polution but im not gonna tell someone that hes got to put a cat on his 80 malibu because the government says so. Pollution is a problem but i can honestly say that the 1million or so odd people who do gut cats or take them off completely arent the problem. Its more that like the sum odd billion who drive back and forth to work every day that make emissions a bad problem. And for other info, way fast has helped me many a time with my pickup, i mean who can give 100% advise if your not standing right there looking at the truck. If i were you, Keep the cats, run strait pipes into high flow mufflers that way the man wont get you down and you can still rev it up like the duke boys.

My old glasspacks made my 5.0 sound like a Honda, not sure who made them, but they WERE installed right, with 3 1/2" tips. Split behind the cats into two packs. Anyway, one of my tips finally rusted out and fell off, lol...sounded like I was dragging cans and I could see the people in the car behind me laughing... I pulled into the school parking lot (I was on the way to school..) then I kicked the tip off and threw it in the back..heahea.. trucks kick ***.. anyway.

I went to the local muffler place, had them put on a 40 series Flowmaster (one in, two out) kept the cats... (which now have 199542.3 miles on them, and have turned a nasty redish brown color..lol)... I told them to put 3 1/2 x 22 inch tips back on there... but they messed up and put 4" x 18"......and I'm so grateful that they did... wish they had put the 4"x24"'s on there though.

Performance wise, I noticed a little less "bogging" with the 40 series.. but other than that, I couldnt get around the utter bliss that the sound put me in. Its not loud until I hit it...and then it screams... I'll record it when I get around to it..

The "Enviro Groups" won't stop until the closest thing you get to an oil change is replacing the 9V battery under the hood of your 5LB, 2-seater, battery powered skate board.
