Thumbs up Talk about a nice sound!!!

Thanks to all of you guys and your numerous posts om here concerning exhausts. Even the ones that I dont agree with. I just replaced my exhaust this week and prior to that I pondered forever about what exactly I wanted to use. After reading all of the posts here I decided to go with straight dual exhaust from the cats back, 2.25 inch to keep enough back pressure and an h pipe just before the 2 sides split off right in front of the rear axle. The result was a very deep rumbleing exhaust, absolutly no metallic sound like you get with flowmasters, and man when you get on it..... yeah buddy!!!! And no mufflers saved me about 200 bucks or more. The truck has never ran this good either and actually its pretty quiet in the cab since the exhaust is out the rear now instead of the passengers side. I also had some extra change left over to get the 3"x24" chrome bang tips put on there. If your even debating goin true duals, I highly recomend it.

Question

If you are running a cat back exhaust how can that be a true dual? When the pipes come off the headers to the cat then split to dual they then converge into one. Wouldn't a true dual mean from the header to a high-flow cat on one side and then the same on ther other? Then straight down on both sides to seperate mufflers?

Hey Doug, I am in Orlando too, where did you get your setup done at? I've been wanting to the same thing, just wondering on price?

You're right, it's not "true duals' anymore, what he has is "straight pipes"

Not too sure how you are seeing them converge man. The exhasut leaves the exhaust manifold on each side, then hits 2 cats one each side and the ajoining pipe in the center that once connected them has been removed. so it is a true dual setup. the only place they tie together after they leave each side of the motoris a small H-pipe about 3" wide to help even out the sound.

BigBlackTruck, I had it done by Eddie here at Olympic auto/air on 436 in Altamonte. I was pretty impressed with how he ran it as well. And I think it was like 275 bucks including the tips

Yep!! Straight pipes rock, and i only have the 'cut out muffler/Y pipe/dual tailpipes', but plan on doing hi flo's and 2.25" true duals. I highly reccomend straight pipes for a deep, loud, powerful sound. Ive heard a couple trucks with factory cats and true duals, both 4.6 and 5.4, and they sound great!
