I vote neither. I suggest using a stainless-steel, straight-through design muffler. Each of those mufflers has one of these traits.

just go ahead and get straight pipes because the glasspacks will plowout anyway.. and the 40 will sound good but straight pipes will be louder and cost less.. just my 2cents

glasspacks are louder 40's sound better and straight pipes are loudest, but if you want it to be loud but still keep a little backpressure on it then go with glasspacks, more performance go with flows

I have a glasspack and to tell ya the truth it's not very loud. Cut off the last two cat's and throw on straits, then you're cookin!

I vote for the 40 series flowmasters. I had a true dual setup of 40 series flows along with headers on my old 97 4.6L.I loved the sound and everyone who heard it loved the sound. I went a different way this time with the L. I put on a set of magnaflows. Its a different tone but not that bad. They are fairly quiet at idle , you can definetly tell u have them under acceleration, and not bad loud cruisin down the road.

well, nothin is loud on these at idle or at very low rpm.i have straight pipes and mine isn't that loud until i get on it.i liked my flow you could barely hear it cruisin, but when i got on it,it sounded great.especially when i gutted the cats.it sounded real good then, but i wanted it louder.
