Post Exhaust Recommendations???

Managed to put a little cash away and am ready to change on the exhaust on the girl. Looking for a Dual Out system. What kind of recommendations do ya'll have for a decent system? Don't want to be annoyingly loud but yet I'd like her to have some rumble to her just the same without a lot of cab drone. I'm looking to get dual out the back... Flowmasters?? Gibson??? any help is greatly appreciated!! sig has the basic specs on the truck.... thanks!!

Glad to see other members from the area.

Gibson systems are fairly quiet. The single side swept can hardly be noticed in the cab. It sounds good from outside, mellow and not loud at all. The split rears are a little louder, but still quiet in the cab.

Some of the Flowmaster systems can be more throaty. The 40's seem to cause a drone in the cab more than others.

I put a Gibson side swept on my 5.0 and I like it. It's enough to let you know it isn't stock, but not loud enough to attract too much attention.

Go to www.gibsonperformance.com and check out the all that they have. You'll be very happy with Gibson.

Super Truck does sound like what you're looking for, or maybe Split Rear (I think it is). I love my Swept SIde, but it also fit my needs and application to a tee!

If you decide that Gibson is what you want, send Roger at the online store an emai and let him give you a quote. He may not be able to beat some deals out there but if he can he will, if he can't he'll tell you. At least give him a shot and help support the board.

Limelight:

I'm real happy with the Borla Stainless steel dual out the rear exhaust system I just recently put on my truck. The sound is definitely not annoyingly loud, but it does sound louder and deeper when you punch it. The performance is really noticeable too. It has a million mile warranty and is not that difficult to install yourself. I got mine for $519.

.Just ordered a BORLA for my Screw, 2001. Cost? 399.00 plus tax, and free shipping...cool deal! (truckperformance.com)
Down side, just informed today, that it was 2-3 weeks out? when they told me it was "in stock".
From what I read here, I should wair for the BORLA's...yes!

Question for anybody:
I just checked out Flow Master set-up at local Muff shop, 389.00 out the door installed. Delta 50 series, with dual out the back any way I want it! (ie... split out both sides behind the rear tires.

"Should I stay"... with my pending BORLA...
"Or should I go"...with Flowmaster sys???

any input would be appreciated!

I have a MagnaFlow on my truck, and I love it.
I also wanted something nice sounding, but not too loud, which is exactly what I got. This concludes my review of the MagnaFlow!

Like cyclone said, I am very impressed with my Ravin. The sound card available at goravin.com does not do justice to this exhaust. I have compared this muffler to many others (ie FM,Gibson,Dynomax, and Thrush)and nto a single one compares to the Ravin in volume and tone. I don't know what you want in sound, but the 33's are very loud ONLY behind the truck. You can't hardly tell there is anything under the truck unless you are standing behind the exhaust pipe. As for all the posts about people having the interior drone at about 2000RPM, they are either too picky, or there is something different with the installation causing the drone. Mine is great, at WOT, you can carry a conversation with out missing a word, however is there is someone behind you, they can't.
Good Luck too ya!

Limelight,

I have to agree with OldGray -- check out the Midas shop. The Ravin' mufflers are great. I have the Z-55 with a Single Out, however, there are a few people on this board that have duals with this setup and are very happy. I think Adamski has the duals with the Z-33 and seems quite pleased as well (you can probably search for his posts).

Good luck

I love that quote...

I have an expie, and will be replacing the exhaust, but I hear that some systems cause low end power loss...any feedback about ravin and other systems as far as that goes?

Tommy-

As long as you don't alter the intake, I really dont think you will lose too much low end. I did lose a little my self, but then again, I don't care about spinning my tires. As long as the truck is capable of pulling my 26' boat out of the water on an incline, I'm ok. You may consider going down to the z55's, they are a little more restrictive than the 33's, and they are a little more quiet. They do still have the same sound and tone, just not the volume. It all depends on what you want!

adamski; You said you may have lost some low end grunt with the Ravin exhaust..I also see that you dont have Headers as yet either.I made a small mod to my air box and allseems great.I have the z-55 si/do with the J BA headers.Lots of power thru the band.I also drag a large boat.and I have no problem at all. Try a set Of JBAs I dont think youll regret it. That boat will come up the ramp like shot out of a canon... you can get them here from Rodgers online store. good luck OLDGRAY
