Post Reprogramming Computer Chip after Exhaust Install

I will be getting my Gibson Dual Sport exhaust installed on my truck in about a week or two. Someone mentioned an interesting thing to me, and I - not knowing too much about this stuff, am wondering if anyone can be of any assistance.

When I have this new exhaust installed, does the computer chip in my truck need reprogrammed since I will no longer have the factory exhaust? Or is it just as simple as removing the current exhaust and installing the new one - whallaa!????

Thanks in advance,
Melissa

Cool

The chip does not have to be reprogrammed when adding a cat-back. Resetting the computer can be done to speed up the self-adjustment; it does not have to be done.

geez, that kind of seems like a lot of work. I believe the credentials that you have but mine seemed to reset after 5mins of headlight turn on and negative battery disconnect. Just my own experience talking

Wink

"No need" to reset the Superchip after you install an aftermarket exhaust system.

I just had the Gibson "Swept Side" installed and the mechanic at the performance shop that I had it done at said not to reset the Superchip....waist of time he said!

Also talked to Mike at Superchips and he also that there is "no reason" to reset the chip after an exhaust mod is done.

Leave it, drive it and enjoy it!!
