Question Center cap/exhaust problem

I know that alot of you have had your center cap dull from the exhaust exiting in front of the rear tire. I have the same problem & will have the exhaust routed behind the tire when I need to replace it BUT the exhaust is new so that won't be for awhile hopefully!
In the meantine, I was thinking of getting a curved tail pipe extension & turning it so the exhaust exits toward the front of the truck. Do you think this will work? Any problem doing this since it would end up exiting toward my nerf bars? I want to get a new center cap but not if it will happen again! If this is a bad idea I guess I'll have to live with the old center cap till I replace the ehxaust.
Thanks for the help!

I'd recommend not pointing the pipe forward. Among various reasons, you'll still be driving through the gases. Not sure how much it will help, but you could try pointing the tip downwards.

I agree with pointing it down, you might even want to take as few inches off the existing pipe before adding the turn-down. that way the exhaust will be inside the wheel. Turning it to the front will allow rain/road spray to enter the exhaust system which will eventually blow back out as black soot.

I like your idea! I'm going to try it & then if it works I'll get the new center cap. BTW - any suggestions on the best way to clean/polish the other 3 caps? They're just a little dull & getting a new 1 will make THEM look bad!

I find that regular washing keeps them clean.
If they are that bad, I would use a metal polish; Mothers and Eagle One are very common.

I use Mothers "clearcoat wheel polish" it's
awesome stuff! Polishes the wheel and eats up brake dust like it's not there,,,,,98
Another solution is that J.C. Whitney now sells the center caps for $69.95 a set, whenever it gets dull you could switch it out. This could last a few years ,,,98
