Question Gibson split rear

I was ready to order a Gibson split rear system (#69504 for stainless)from Summit until I read the footnote on Gibson's webpage...."4wd spare tire may need to be removed or relocated".

My truck is a 4X4 with 17" tires and spare. If anyone out there has installed this particular system, how did you deal with the spare tire. Did it have to be relocated? If so, I'm going to spend a little more money and get the Borla split rear system (#14808).

Thanks for any input.

I know this probably won't help you, but I installed the same exhaust system on my friends 98 dakota. All we had to do is lower the spare a little bit and push it to the right about 2" and tighten the cable back up. The spare has never rubbed the exhaust yet. It has been on his dakota for 2.5 years with no problem.

I know you posted the topic 3 days ago, so I hope I'm not too late to help. I have the same setup as you (see sig), and had no problem with the exhaust and spare. I have had the exhaust for over a year now. The exhaust gets fairly close, but there is still plenty of room (over 2 inches). I wish I had room for a 285 under there, but I don't. The exhaust is great, I'm sure you will love it. I installed mine myself in just a couple of hours...very easy. Just as a suggestion, the Gibson tips are well worth the money. They really make it look great. Plus, they are stainless also, so they will never rust. Mine are still shining brightly.
