Question 40 series install

I want to replace my stock muffler with a Flowmaster 40 series. If I go with the single in/out can I do it myself or is there cutting/welding required? I've done some bolt on exaust work before but nothing major.

------------------
Stock Stuff:
Y2K SCab 4X4, Chesnut Metallic, 5.4L, 3.55 Limited Slip, Skid Plates, Factory AM/FM/CD, 40/60 Split Bench, Sliding Rear Window, Towing Package and Keyless Entry.

Extras so far:
305/70X16 GY Wrangler ATS on American Eagle Series 146 chrome wheels.

Future plans:
Airbox mod/FIPK, Flowmaster 40 Series muffler, stainless exaust tip, tint windows, spray in liner (or Herculiner haven't decided), stainless step bars, hood deflector, chip? we'll see.

Cool

The FM 40 as well as most other mufflers are not a direct bolt on. They are usually shorter (requiring pipe), don't usually have the exact in/out offset line up, have different hangers, and part of the OEM muffler to pipe is a weld on (cutting). It can be done, but might be worth the $75-100 to have someone put it on at the shop. By the time that you buy the muffler, and if you pay for install, then you are alot of the way to a cat-back price.

Red face

After posting I went and took a peek under the truck to find the entire system is welded together. I think I'll probably forgo the agony and save for the cat-back system. I think no matter how I go it will be at least a couple hundred bucks! Thanks for the reply.
