Gibson - Split Rear or Swept Side?
Not so, lovemy4x4, see my post above. Coastal Hi-Performance beats the hell out of Wheel Parts Wholesalers' prices and NO TAX either. Shipping is $25. If you order direct from Gibson, they'll charge you full suggested retail, kind of an incentive to use one of their dealers.
I ordered Gibson at back out the rear duals for $259 + $20 shipping from www.truckperformance.com also ordered K&N genII performance kit with filter and cleaner for $185.shipped.You have to be careful with the airraid you might not pass inspection in every state it is not smog legal.
Thanks for the tip Ford Man. I was unaware of that. I know that Gibson was cheaper than 4-wheel Parts, but then again....4-wheel Parts has never been known for "good" prices.

Hey guys....
Thanks for all the great suggestions on the Gibson systems. I ordered the Split-rear today and got a good price for it here in Alaska ($356 w/shipping included).
What I wanted to ask was what type of tips people had on their duals? I was looking at either a 8" x 3" or 8" x 3.5" (Gibson). Can anyone tell how they like them or if there are better tips to put on it? What is the sound difference going to be between the 3" and 3.5"? Is it worth spending the extra money to go larger?
Thanks.... Todd

I think the Gibson tips are a must have. I have the 3.5"x8" tips and they look great. Plus, the Gibson tips are Stainless Steel, so you won't have to worry about them rusting...they will always shine like they were brand new. As for sound, it may have gotten a little louder, but not much.
Finally installed my gibson split rear today.Took me from 10:30 til 4:00.I did it by myself with a hacksaw and ratchet set,I didn't put on stands just crawled under.I wish the instructions were a little more clear.I wasted to much time trying to configure the drivers side peices for some reason I thought it crossed over the axle on the drivers side but both sides cross over passanger side and then the drivers side crosses over just in front of spare tire.Came out nice not to loud but you know its there.I did turn a few heads taking off from a light, when you stand in front of my truck you can hear the air being sucked in by the K&N fipk when you stand behind a nice rumble from the exhaust.I'm now shifting from 1st to 2nd at close to 50 mph with the superchip, they all make a good combo. The truck definately has some get up and go almost as close as my past lightning not necksnapping but good enough plus its a lot more practicle.Another thing with just the K&N and chip I was idling at 700 to 800 rpm after exhaust a nice smooth 600rpm.

I have one more question to ask everyone who has installed the Gibson Split-rear, has anyone had the exhaust pipes exit the side of their truck, instead of the rear? The reason behind this is that I am going to put on a "Topper" on my truck when I leave here (Alaska)this summer to go to Arizona and I was told that if the exhaust came out the back that it would seep into the cap from the rear and cause CO2 poisoning if I had my kids or dogs in the back. Can anyone help me out? Big Thanks.....

Hey Guys,
I just got my JARDINE Performance Exhaust catalog and I was looking at their exhaust tips and prices. Seems like you can get their SS 11" slash tips cheaper than Gibson's and they look great. I was wondering if anyone has Jardine tips on and how do they like them?

I'm torn... I have looked at the Gibson Swept side and am impressed, but I have talked to the local shop and they claim I can get the same thing by replacing my muffler with a Dynomax Super Turbo or Flowmaster 50 series. I tow a boat, some times a small camper; I want to maintain my low end torque while improving gas mileage. The improved sound will be an added plus! The Gibson system is $299.00 locally and mail order a bit less, but the muffler only replacement will be about $125.00.

Just to give you an update on the exhaust delima. I just put on my Gibson Split-rear this weekend and I love it. The sound is just perfect, not to loud and not to mellow. I did spend the extra money and put on the Gibson 3.5" x 12" slash tips, that put the finishing touches on a great exhaust.
I do have one question. Did anyone have to reset their computers after installing their exhaust system? I didn't reset it at first and it ran kinda rough. The next day, I reset it and it run like a charm.
Thank you everyone who helped me with all you r info on which system to get. I am getting a SnugTop cap put on my truck this weekend. Anyone have any comments on SnugTop caps?

Offroader....
I bought my system and tips up here in Alaska and it cost me $460. I know that you can get them alot cheaper in the lower 48 states then up here. I think that I paid about $90 in freight alone.
I couldn't be more happier with the Gibson, I get alot of comments on the look and sound from it. It is really is to install.
If you need anymore info, let me know. I just took some pics of it today and should have them developed soon.
