I've just gotten back from installing Flowmaster 40 series, cat-back on my '99 4.2L!! It sounds much better than i thought it would and it impressed the mechanic who did the installing. He said it sounds like a 6 cyl on steroids!! It sounds really throaty and low while cruising around town. Just enough growl to sound like a V-8. When you get into the throttle it changes and sounds like a V-6.....with an attitude!! At least it doesn't have the high-pitched buzz I was afraid of having. I like it!!! It's snowing here now and I want to get the sounds on the site here, so, I'l be back when the weather clears a tad. This was definitly worth the $237. price tag. I've one question though...do I need to reset the puter or will it matter? Have a great weekend peeps and keep up the great work on the site.

Give me details! I have a 4.2L as well and I want what you have. What size pipes did you get? What placement did you go with - Out the back or Out the Side. Single in dual out or Single in Single out. Any change in power?

I got the 50 series, single in & out. Kept factory pipe, and it sounds great!! Mine has a nice growl to it.. Oh, and it's quicker now.
