Help the new guy
I purchased a used 1998 F-150 about four months ago and I have been getting all sorts of good ideas from this site. Here is my question: What type of exaust do I have. The muffler is about 14" long and a fat oval shape, there are two approx 2" exaust pipes leaving the muffler. I have no idea what type of aftermarket exaust this is if any. The sound is fairly throaty, but other than that I have no idea. When replying pleasze assume I know nothing because I am new at this. Thanks

Hey new guy whats up?
I'm pretty new at this myself. I've learned alot in the past few weeks. This is a good site to get help. What you need to do is go to a local muffler shop and ask them to identify your muffler for you. I just had a Dynomax muffler installed. It was the 14" Dynomax. Why are you trying to find out? Are you going to do anything to the truck? Superchip, Airaid, etc? Anyway good luck and let me know what yoy end up doing.
1998 F150 4x4, XLT, EX-CAB, 4.6 with Dynomax muffler and K&N gereration II airfilter kit.

Thanks for the tip. I just wanted to know what is on the truck so that I can pretend like I know what I'm talking about. I don't think that I could afford to get a superchip since I already spend 50-75 dollars a week on regular gas, but I do plan on adding a bunch of other things.
