Thumbs down sound of a gibson vs stock

I heard a swept system that was hardly noticable over a stock a system. I want to put a differant mufler on that has a nice rumble but can still keep spare in place. Gibson splitrear won't work with 17 inch spare, swept side doesn't have a rumble, Has any one hear tried the force II system . Do they have the drone in the cab??? I see that theyhave them here but no info what is the web address to flowmaster??

My spare tire fits easily with my Gibson split-rear exhaust. I wrote a post about it just a minute ago in response to another post. I have 265/70/17's on the ground, but for some reason my spare is 265/75/16. They are the same diameter, though. I had no problem with the fit. I talked to a guy at Gibson and at 4-Wheel parts and they both told me it would fit, and it does. It should provide the deep rumble sound you are looking for.

I spoke to gibson also they said it would not work with a 17 inch spare but that isnt the only problem gibson said that the split system is NOT for towing that is what i need an exhaust to help me with i tow alot of thing boats, trl, campers, car hauler, so i wanted a swept side which is for towing but it sounds just like stock maybe a little louderbut not much i called flowmaster talked to them and i decided yesterday to put only a muffler on it keep all other stock pipes in place, nice rumble NO drone on the highway and more pull on bottom end.
The mufler is a two chamber i believe it is the same as a force two muffler from what flowmaster said. It cost $80 and the speed shop will refuned all money if i am not happy or change to differant muffler at no xtra cost( delta series).
i also will keep all my s.s. factory exhaust in plce compare to galavnize pipe on gibson, i know thye have s.s. but i would by a borla first . The Mi weather is hard on exhaust system.

The Gibson single exit provides more low-end torque, you're right. However, with my split-rear I have notice no loss whatsoever in low-end torque...no gain either, though. The gain I noticed was at highway speeds-even towing.

Hope you like your Flowmaster though.

Sorry Steve I actually put this in the wrong post before but here it is....

This is what John says about Gibsons systems that are "not recommended for heavy towing". He is talking about them giving towing *performance* not whether or not you can do it. It seems to depend on what you are towing and what you can live with:

"PHIL SORRY FOR THE DELAYED RESPONSE THE STICKERS AND CATALOGE INFO IS IN THE MAIL. TOWING WITH THE SUPER TRUCK IS OK IT IS JUST NOT RECOMMENDED DUE TO THE LOW BACK PRESSURE, THIS LOWERS THE BOTTOM END PERFORMANCE WICH IS OFTEN IN DEMAND WITH HEAVY TOWING BUT IF YOU ARE NOT HAVING ANY PROBLEMS THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I JUST CAN'T SAY THIS KIT IS RECOMMENDED FOR TOWING IF IT DOES NOT PROVIDE TOWING PERFORMANCE. IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK.

THANK YOU
JOHN CARNEY

Cool

Well hey this may be a little late considering nobody has been here since 2/9 but what the hell... I have a 99 5.4 and a dual super truck side exit system, not only does it rumble louder than a flowmaster system, but the power is amazing... I do have a little more than any normal person as I have true duals 2 cats, 2 mufflers, 4 tips (2 exiting out the driver's side and 2 exiting on the passenger side... with a supercharger and 580hp I guess I should notice a big difference though, but hey Gibson is a great exhaust system no matter how you look at it, just gotta find the right application for you... Have fun and Good Luck... )
