low benifits from bolt ons
I know this. We both have 3.55 gears. His tires are 29" diameter, mine are 33". I was just kind of in dismay that this would cancel out the effects of my larger engine and the mods done to it.
Also, my flareside bed should be much lighter than his lwb bed, right?

Looking at the weights listed for '99 models(at www.autosite.com). It looks like if both trucks were XLT models you 4wd flareside would come in at a base weight of 4426, where his 2wd lwb is around 4129. Lots of things to take into consideration though, XL weigh less, Lariats more. I'm sure that ORP adds weight, the toolbox you have and what's in it could make a difference. I'm sure the tires hurt a lot, plus they're going to weigh a bit more also. Add into the picture that speedos aren't 100% accurate anyway, and that just throws everything out the window. Just my $.02...

Ford made some changes to the 4.6L on 99 models. I am not sure what changes they made but the result was a 10-20 hp gain. Does anyone know if any changes were made to the Head restriction to achieve the increase in hp.

If you weigh the trucks you will be very suprised. I weighed mine and it is a lot heavier than I could imagine but then again it has everything on it plus. 5700 lbs at the local grain elevator. I never thought that the front would be 3400 lbs and the rear 2300 lbs.
Total weight and larger tires make biggest the difference.
I,m still trying to get those chebbies and dogdes to run me...
