Specs of Flowmaster Force II catback...
Matt:
I'm thinking about the same system for my 5.4L next spring. The flowmaster kit, #17222, comes with a 50 series SUV-Performance muffler, #530562, according to a rep from Flowmaster. This muffler has a single offset 3" diam inlet, and two 2-1/2" diam outlets. I just helped a friend install a very similar system on his 5.2L 97 Dodge Ram. In his kit, there is a short adaptor piece that that bumps the primary pipe size up to 3" where it enters the muffler. I don't know how it affects low end torque, but it's one of the sweetest exhaust notes I've heard, and reasonable noise levels inside the cab. Hope this helps.....

I am considering a catback exhaust system for my 99' F150 5.4L V8 and I am looking at FlowMaster's Force II (dual rear out)system. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me the diameters of both the inlet pipe and the two outlet pipes. I checked FlowMaster's web page, but I could find any info about this. My only real concern about this system is the possibility of losing some low-end torque, so I'm wondering how large the outlet pipes are. If anyone has this system on a 5.4L V8, I would also like to hear any pros and/or cons about it. Thanks for any info on this!

Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think you can reduce backpressure and get an increase in torque. I think that claim is contradictory. It is my understanding that increased flow (AKA performance) = reduced torque. You can't get both. You have to give some of one up for some of the other. The eternal compromise. But what the heck if it sounds good that's what really matters!

I am also looking into this setup for my 2000 Lariat 4X4 with the 5.4. I called the folks at Flowmaster for info:

The dude quoted a MSRP of $428.00. I assume that it is available for less than that on the internet. If anyone finds it for less, please post the URL. It seems like a nice kit, but it is not available in stainless to my knowledge. The Force II's come with a special "SUV/TRUCK" version of the 50 series muffler that is supposed to have little effect on engine torque due to reduced back pressure (according to their support dude).
Has anyone installed one of these yet?
