Question DynoMax Cat-Backs, ANY GOOD ?!?

I really want an exhaust for my 93 F-150 Flare Side 2wd 302 bad ! I am sick of this weak stock sound. I wanted a BORLA but can't afford it. I looked at the flowmaster
cat-back but I don't want it because my truck will sound like every other truck around here (they all have flowmasters). I noticed in the new JEG's catalog they now have a DynoMax system that will fit my truck. Thats cool ! I have never heard a DynoMax in person before. How do they sound ? Anyone here own one and if so what do you think of it ? Is it a good system and of decent quality ? Also around how much HP will I gain ? The truck is totally stock except a K&N Drop-in I am thinking maybe 8hp is this logical ? Thanks !

Dynomax will be quieter than flowmaster. I put a system on a 95 T bird in 1997. Fit great, but the mufflers already had to be replaced in late 1998 due to rust-out. The flowmaster system has been the easiest and best quality system I have done yet.

I am currently running a gibson system. Decent sound, fairly quiet - the install was a nightmare. Borla?
You get what you pay for.

Good luck with your decision.

Thumbs up

dlsipe: cool thanks for the info. The rust sounds pretty bad ? Do you live in a really snowy area (Like MI) because that was some fast rust. I'm glad you sai that they fit good though. How about the sound ? You said they are quieter than FlowMasters but are they louder than stock ? And do they have a good deep sound to then ? I know it won't be as deep as the FlowMasters but I want a better sound than stock

THanks

BMW 325 - On my 99 V6 I just put on a Dynomax Race Magnum muffler and did not replace my 2 and one half existing pipes. Sound is good but not loud. I had this muffler on a 98 4.0 Ranger and it was real quiet. Slightly bigger motor on F150 makes a difference and also F150 V6 has a more open system from factory than the Ranger. Dynamax makes several different mufflers. Race Magnum is supposed to be the most performance oriented. Also had a Flowmaster 2 chamber on the Ranger. Sounded great, but it took some of my low end away. The Race Magnum is almost straight through. You can look right through it with no obstructions.

BMW, try Jardine. It is suppossed to give you the best performance of all exhaust systems out there. Also, they sound great.
Hope this helps.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I live in Southern Maryland. Not much snow here in the winter. Usually only 3-4 decent snowfalls per year. The rust occurred on the Dynomax (SuperTurbo's) by the drainhole and continued up to the inlet.

Hey BMW325, ever thought about straight pipes? It would be the cheapest of all, its pretty loud, but I have been really happy with it!
