Flowmaster #17222 Cat Back
I am thinking of this exhaust system, Flowmaster #17222. Anyone tried it? It is a Cat back, Series 50 3 chamber muffler, 1 in 2 out the side, stainless tips.
I want good looks, a little better MPG, and a stronger sound. Not a interior drone, but rumble type of thing, with a growl when hammered.
Summit seems to have the best price at $297 delivered. I am also thinking of the muffler alone, but single in and out.
How easy was the installation? Do it again? How did it hold up? Sound? Performance?
It is going on a Y2K F150 5.4, 4X4, 3.55, auto.
Thanks,

I'm interested in exactly the same kit for mine. I helped a friend install the sister version of that set-up on his 97 5.2L Dodge Ram. Installation is as simple as unbolting the old and bolting on the new (having a lift or pit definitely helps). Only took about an hour and a half and it was the sweetest exhaust note I've heard in a long time, just as you described. The best thing was that it was barely noticable from inside the cab. If the Ford kit sounds anything at all like that, you won't be dissappointed.

2000 XLT Black Sport, Flareside, 2WD, Ext. Cab, 5.4L Auto. Other factory options: 3.55 LS, Class III tow, 6-way Captains chairs w/CD changer, Remote entry , and Slider window.
Mods: Undercoat, window tint, headlight & tail light covers, removed "Sport" decals, upgraded Triton tailgate emblem,Linex spray-in bedliner, and an ARE LSII lid.
Wish list: Flowmaster duals, K&N FIPK, and a Belltech 3/4 drop.
