Cool Plain old Glasspacks

I don't have the money to invest in a gison eshaust or the like. I'm going to just put on dual glasspacks and chrome tips. (looks jsut as good). I'm writting to see if anyone has any tips on how I should run the pipes and what to look for to get the best power/sound.

The installer should know the best route to take so the pipes exit where you want. I prefer straight out the back.

Get 30" or longer glasspacks. They give a nice, loud, deep rumble. Packs that are too short will cause you to lose more low-end power than you want.

Cool

Thanks for the info on sizes. I had no idea what so ever about what size of glasspack to put on. All I knew is that I want that "Big Truck" sound but I don't want to wake the naghbors when I go to work in the morning.

Question

I was searching through the internet and found the sites for the Cherry Bomb and Purple Hornies (Flowtech, I think) glasspacks. Look like the kind of things you would strap on your 1977 Camaro. Can they go on these trucks? Don't have a clue what kind of glasspack I have, just came from Meinke. But a purple glasspack (the Hornies) is right up my alley, got to be a girl thing for purple.

CAN they? Yes.

But it'd be cheaper to get some "high-temp" purple (or whatever color) paint and do your entire exhaust!! :0

Neal
PS: It might be a "girl" thing. My sister-in-law (who is probably your age) loves purple too.

Are there even any other "Okies" besides us? Besides, I don't think they like us. Notice how they decided to meet about as far away from us as they could get?

I'm really an Okie.
I've just moved to Texas two months ago.
I might be up to meeting some people in Oklahoma.
Most of the Texas meets are so far away from me I'd never go.

I might be able to make some of the Oklahoma rallys, I know my way around there pretty good now.

Good golly "Jolly". Talk about BFE! SWOSU?? That's down in the part of the state my wife is from. Where in TX do you live now?

Mudder's about to move up here and become "one of us" I think.

Talking

Nomo,
I know there are a couple of other guys on the site (but I haven't seen them on the board lately) that are okies. Maybe the next time Mudder is in Oklahoma we can meet at Sam's Offroad or in Owasso (I live 40 miles SW of Tulsa).
Actually I'll probably be the one making the transition, I like Arlington.

I hope who ever was asking about glasspack sounds sees this post:
click on the wav file link in my sig. Mudder recorded this with his digital camera. The recording doesn't do the revving much justice (sounds like a soupped-up honda) but the idle sounds good (at about 10 seconds). I wish i would of tapped the accelerator good enough to get the glasspack to get the rumbling when the rpm's are coming down.

Pony- did you ever get your "2nd" 'pack? I'm still at work (no sound) so I'll listen to the mighty V6 when I get home.

Until then, how about a 4.6L with true duals & glasspacks: http://members.visualcities.com/NoMo...tive/packs.wav

the 2nd pack (if that's possible) won't happen for quite some time. First I need to get the front end fixed (~$150), replace the windshield ($220), and get some new wheels (~$130 apiece) & tires ($??). So, the other glasspack is going to have to wait a while.
