Question FlowMaster FORCE II

I know I have been bugging everyone to death the last week or so about information and opinions. But I have been buying stuff left and right for my truck to get it how I want it. So now comes the Exhaust. At first I was going to get a BORLA but I can't possibly afford thayt after I have bought all this other stuff. Anyways I was looking at the FlowMaster FORCE II system in Jeg's catalog. It looks really nice and the description says that it is loud under heavy accelaration but pretty quite when crusing thats what I want. Have any of you guys owned or heard one of the FORCE II systems ? If so what did you think of it ? Also do you need to buy some exhaust tips to go on the ends or do they come with them ? The system will be going on a:

1993 FORD Regular Cab F-150, FLARE SIDE, 5.0, AUTO

The truck is totally stock except for a K&N. Please post what you think about this system. Jeg's price is: $227.99

Thumbs up

I have a Force II on my 98. I have the 5.4L. I don't know how the system would be different for the 93. The one for the 98-99 trucks has a 50 series muffler (PN 525561) and all pipes back to the tips. I got 3" tips welded on cause I did not like the tips that Flowmaster sent. If the system for the 93 is similar, you will probably want different tips. The late model systems come in both rear and side exit (I have rear). I love it, have had it a week. Torque and power gains across the board, sounds tough on the gas, and you will barely hear it above 70 mph. I think it is a great system, and it sounds like you found a good price. The shop that did mine ordered it from Flowmaster, and their catalog price was $321.

The price I have is right out of the latest JEG'S catalog. I think that price is right because from the pictures the system looks pretty cheaply made anyways.

Joe-

The Flowmaster tech is right, but not all of them are correct all the time. One tech told me that the Force II for the 98-99 comes with a 70 series muffler, when I had a box for a 50 series muffler in front of my face. The 17222 (dual rear)/17226 (dual side) for 98-99 is new and very popular right now, and mine was backordered 3 wks. The shop I went to had a Flowmaster catalog. It looks like the product application catalog on the Flowmaster web site, except the one at the shop contained prices. That system, quoted by Flowmaster direct, for $321.19, I saw it myself, and that is what the shop charged me for it (plus installation). BMW, I don't think it is cheaply made, you might be thinking that by the aluminized finish which looks very plain and dull.

Question

98 Lariat
Questions.
1. Why dual exhaust ?
2. One in and two out ? or two in two out ?
3. How does the 50 series sound ?
I think the 50 series is for me, not too loud not too quiet.
I'm thinking of getting a 50 series Flowmaster and hook it up with as much existing pipe as possible. Comments ?

Oregon-

Your answers:
1 and 2. It is not a "true dual". A true dual would be each side of the engine having its own exhaust system, so you have two cats, two mufflers, and two tail pipes. This system goes from the Y pipe out of the cats and replaces everything from the stock muffler back. I wanted my engine to breathe better, enabling it to reach more of its torque and horsepower potential. Also better sound in addition, and I love the look of a dual rear exit exhaust right under the bumper. Those were the reasons I did it. The muffler that was included in my system (525561) is single in, dual out, 2.5" pipes. If you want to keep the stock pipes and just change the muffler, you want a single in, single out. Check out the Flowmaster web site for all the different choices (www.flowmastermufflers.com). If you want to go to a dual exit, I suggest just getting a complete catback system. They are tuned and tested, and all the pipes are designed specifically for the truck.
3. If some roar from your exhuast but not "waking the dead" loud is what you want, then the 50 Series is for you. Get on the gas and it sounds great, but you barely hear it while on the highway. But step on it for a quick pass, and you can feel the difference in the high end acceleration as you zip right around some slowpoke riding in the left lane. I am very pleased with the 50 Series.

Talking

I just checked with summit racing online...they listed their price for less than $321.
Force II.
97 (17137)=$253.69
98/99 (17222/17226)= $291.39
plus you have to add $6.95 for handling-free
shipping by ground UPS.
